my best advice is to attend a certified school such as uti and theres one located in your state. it is great to do some reading and research but books will only take you to a certain limits. learning hands on and how theory applies with a instructor by your side will help u better understand the concept of car than just reading a textbook. sorry for poor english.too lazy to type.good luck on your learning adventure and i applaud u for going the extra mile instead of just buying parts to make your car go faster and not realize for every action there is a reaction.i mean just pretend what i said was a mod parts for upgrade and with wrong combo u can ruin a good perfect engine.

the best way to learn is to just get your hands dirty. pick up a cheap project car, get a helms manual, and go to work. the more experience you can get doing different things the better you will be in the long run. check out homemadeturbo.com, you could turbo your car cheap and in the process learn A LOT about cars. go to local drag races and check out peoples setups.. dont be scared to ask people questions. go to a book store like barnes and noble and get a few books.. there should be a section for car stuff.. i picked up a few good honda books a while back. if you read a lot in the technical forums on this site.. (forced induction, all motor, tech, and drag seem to be full of good info) you will slowly build up some pretty good knowledge.
