Default Innovate LM-1 videos = some good information!

Currently my quest is finding a wideband that is reasonably priced and will suit my needs (tune my car via uberdata)...

I have been researching the popular ones LM-1, PLX-M250, Zeitronix, and the TechEdge...

Anyways, I was on Innovate's web site last night and came accross these videos that were really great. They explain some good tuning tips and tricks. The guy explains some really great ways to tune a car for both maximum power and maximum fuel efficiency...

I thought maybe others would like to view them as well so here they are...

http://www.innovatemotorsports...1.php

I thought for sure someone else would have posted this up but I searched and couldn't find any other threads about it...

I hope they are helpful! I sure learned some great stuff that I will hopefully be able to apply as I tune my car...

BTW, I am either going to get the LM-1 or PLX-M250, I haven't decided yet...

I'm a big fan on the LM1. Its a little bulky, but works great.

LM1 all the way.. if you get it, make sure to get the RPM converter as well and you can make some very informative data logs...

so for the budget lm-1.. is there an a/f display? cuz i hate to have to record, load up on my computer, go back out, record, load, etc.. really time consuming

Yes it has a display on the unit itself.

Both units are accurate (I personally like the updating speed of the PLX's better), however, to break it down..

First, the M-250 is a displayless unit, so I like to compare the M-400 to the LM-1, making it more of an oranges vs oranges vice oranges vs apples conversation.

The M-400 is the same size of M-250 (consequently, the same size as all the other M series), so right off its smaller and more compact than the LM-1 (the LM-1 resembling a small refridgerator). That in mind and using MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) for comparison:

LM-1 w/ LMA-2 (RPM Convertor) - MSRP $429
PLX M-400 - MSRP $469

$40 difference in MSRP, but what does one get for the price difference:

- The PLX M-400 is roughly 5 times -smaller- bigger than the LM-1 (orientation of the display on the LM-1 makes it difficult to mount "flat")
- The PLM M-400 has USB WIRELESS features for computer connection, the LM-1 does not

Etc, etc. You make your own conclusions of course. Going by sales... we (www.forced-air.com) sell far more PLX units than LM-1.

but you have to buy an extra sensor to get an rpm vs. a/f readout? or would you be trying to read your rpm while watching your a/f or vice versa? (assuming you're doing this solo)

The base wideband is 349. The wideband kit with RPM sensor is 429.

Yeah, I'm leaning away from the LM-1... It's just too much to be able to data log with it... $429 + $30 (to convert the serial port to USB... what laptops come with serial ports anymore? None!) = $459 just for me to log RPM with AF ratios

I'm thinking I'm going to get the PLX-M300 and either tune it without datalogging, or run the wideband output through my ECU and datalog through Uberdata... either way, it's way cheaper than the LM-1...

if you're able to do the latter.. why not just do that? it would be free anyways right? but how precise is it?

The LM1 rpm converter can log up to 5 additional inputs as well, not just RPM.

It logs 0-5v signals. That means you can log: MAP, TPS, RPM for a honda without anything else.

Yep, I used it for MAP, RPM, A/F and IAT, never had a problem with it, I love my LM1
