The most picturesque autocross site in America, running tomorrow Mt. Baker/Bellingham, WA
Tomorrow is the annual father's day autocross hosted by the Chuckanut Sports Car Club at the top of Mt. Baker in Northwest WA.
If you're in the Northwest and it is a pretty amazing place to have an autocross... it is held in a parking lot normally used for the Mt. Baker Ski Area at approximately 3,500 feet from sea level.
The site is about an hour to an a hour and a half east of Bellingham.
In any case, details can be had at http://www.chuckanutscc.org
Some photos from past events:

Wow, autocrossing against a backdrop of snow covered mountains. Never thought I'd see that in the same pic together. Very cool. Good luck out there today.
How about a hillclimb on the Mt. Baker highway?
Or a "Targa Chuckanut?" Close that road, set up controls and timers, and off we go...

Looks like a great site! On the opposite end of the country you can autocross at a site like this:

Yeah, that's the Atlantic ocean in the background. Bring the family, you drive, they go to the beach!

I was just watching the Targa Newfoundland coverage today on Speed when I got back. Was thinking it sure would be cool to have something like that on the left coast.
Unfortunately we have a hard enough time trying to do gravel rallies on logging roads, etc. that don't have to close public roads. Liability issues seem like the problem.

Not at all, It was absolutely beautiful out. It was about 85 degrees I would guess.
The weather can change very quickly up there though. I remember a couple years ago, when the weather went from being hot and sunny (75-80 maybe) to torential downpour and hail in a matter of just less than a half hour. It sure caught the miata owners by surprise, who were scrambling to put thier tops back on.

Couple of photos from this year.

Course was a lot tighter then normal, really sucked for our first event with the welded differential (I'm moving away from autocross and into road racing with the car), full power and the new Goodyears. Broke the driver's side half-shaft, which made the rest of the day pretty lame.

So close, you can almost touch it. I should'a made the trip up there yesterday instead of going to Boeing Everett to fry my clutch. The views alone would've made it worth the trip.

Our club has Autocross at the Willamette Pass Ski Area parking lot on Aug 15th and 16th. The view should be nice from there.

Plug from the right coast for Larison Rock...
The NW Hillclimb series is part of the reason that I love that kind of racing. Ignoring the fact that petty BS politics of some of the a-hole people involved ruined the fun for me, I'm still a fan.
See that corner marked "Fun - But..."? We called it "Curva Grande" after the big turn at Monza (even though it goes the other way). A radar gun had us at something like 70mph at the exit whe we ran there, as I recall.
Big fun.

Hillclimbs are fun, but what I want is a full rally like the Targa Newfoundland, over several days on paved roads, couple hundred miles.
