Anyone good with A/C ?
My A/C has always worked well. For some reason, I decided to throw it on the guages (robinair evac machine). My pressures on both low and high side are good. I pulled a vacuum on it for about an hour to get get all the moisture out and recharged it to the correct amount. I also added some compressor oil (lubricant) in with the recharge (not dye).
Anyways, since then it hasn't blown very cold. It takes a min or so to cool from a start, but it never really get's ice cold and in FL this is a bad thing. I know I put the right amount of freon in. It had 0.8 in it when I did the recharge (and it blew cold). I put the right amount in for sure (as printed on the label on the frame).
Any ideas ?

How much oil did you put in when you recharged it? If you didn't have any major leaks and you didn't replace a component, then you do not need to add any oil. The system can only hold a certain amount of oil.... put in too much oil (more than the system was designed for) and it will blow warmer cuz you get too think of a layer, or coating on the inside of the entire a/c system. Where this really matters is in the condenser and evaporator, cuz it can't transfer heat as efficiently (think of putting grease on a burn on your skin), which is extremely important in an a/c system. It's also possible the machine is fooling you. We have problems with our a/c machine, even though it 'says' it put in x.xxlb/oz or freon, it actually pumped it full of air or only a partial charge cuz it wasn't purged properly (such as when a new virgin tank is installed). So then we have to suck it out and recharge again, and most of the time that works. For you though I'd recover the freon again and see how much oil comes out into the little cup or whatever it has. If it's about the same as what you added, evac and recharge again without adding any oil. Also remember some machines the car must be running with a/c on for it to take a full charge!!
You're pretty close to me..... if you need any help let me know. I migrate over to Naples ever now and then...
