Need help guys. I just got screwed. I was driving on my LS tranny and it went bad. Bearings and eventually the cased cracked. I bought a so called "rebuilt" B16 tranny and the 1-5 gears work fine except for reverse. Does not go in. If I hold the shifter down into reverse a makes grinding sounds when I let off the clutch but the car does not move. My question is what the hell is causing this and is it possible to use parts off my LS tranny to fix my b16 tranny? Any tranny people in socal wanna fix my tranny for money of course.. . Thanks guys.

 

i know that th ls tranny has better gears but i think that rev. should be the same but it sounds like your sincro...(cant spell) is bad or some one didnt install the c-clip in the rev. gears.

 

there isnt a reverse synchro. it sounds like it isnt all the way into reverse on the b16 tranny. try jamming it further back. it is possible to swap reverse gears for the trannys, but that might not be your problem.

I have tried jamming it but nothing at all.

 

It sounds to me like your reverse synchro sleeve is toast or your reverse change holder is screwed. All the reverse parts from the b16 and ls tranny are interchangable because they have the same reverse gear. I could fix it for you ,but im all the way across the country so i guess im not much of a help

coolness so they are interchangable. Fly out to SoCal..lol

 

Yeah all the reverse gears and 1st gear stuff is the same.
