whats up i got a 2004 ep3 and i do a little spirited driving and when i start off untill about 15mph it makes this clicking noise.. not really clunking.. anybody have any idea what this could be? thanks

Maybe they are broken when his CV boot ripped and all the grease came out. Normal use, and non-tearing of the boot shouldn't make his CV joints go out.

 

I as well have an 04 EP and get the same thing occasionally, sounds like your running over dead leaves. I've noticed if I put my foot all the way down on the clutch when shifting in the 1st and 2nd it doesn't happen. Try it. Let me know if you still get that sound.

 

have you ever taken your tires off since you bought the car??? If so, make sure your lug nuts are tight......

 

undertower bar? steering rod?

it's common to hear thumps from the undertower bar, if it's lowered more than 2.5 (ie. my car)

no way...ive seen them go bad within 1000 miles. usually when they dont grease the axels enough and/or theres a break in the seal, and it all comes out..not very fun

 

I am seeming to have the same problem. My car is completely stock. I have noticed that (in my case) when my a/c is on and then fan kicks on it makes that noise. Even at idle, but when i engage the clutch it goes away and when i let off the clutch it comes back until my fan goes off. This can get really annoying after awhile.

 

throwout bearing?...thats what the noise is when u let out of the clutch

 

Could it be your heat shield?????

 

Check for rocks trapped by your exhaust heat shields. I once removed a small beach out of mine.

I have a 2004 SI and mine "clicks" when the steering wheel is cocked all the way to one side going around a corner at slow speeds...so basically in a covered parking garage...that's how I heard it. Don't know what it is...trapped rocks??? LOL!

 

Most likely Your problem is either a bad steering knuckle or a bad steering ball joint.

Ball joints make that noise when u turn, could also be a messed up steering.

 

I had a similar problem to what people are mentioning back in the first few months having my '03 EP. It would make this strange clicking sound whenever I would turn at lower speeds (0-15mph). I took it in to the Honda dealership and they mentioned something about some some piece of metal that basically needed to be shaved down because a little part of it was sticking out, I'm kind of fuzzy on the details because it was so long ago. Anyway, took the car in for a couple hours, and have not had the problem since. And it was free to fix.

You may laugh, but when you hear something rattling underneath your car while it's running and spend 6 months trying to figure it out, just remember what I said. I finally just put it up on the lift in my buddy's shop and started removing stuff. That's when the afore-mentioned beach fell onto the shop floor. I never knew rocks could find their way into the heatshields until then. And I STILL don't know how they do it
