I saw the post a while back about making your gauges brighter, i just had some questions and needed to do some follow up. see if u guys know any of these.
1. Someone mentioned there was something u could remove from behind the gauges, or take off w/ a Q-tip and paint thinner in order to make more light shine through
2. If the Q-tip thing works, then can i remove all of the color from behind the gauges, and put a peice of blue acetate behind it to get rid of the green and put in the blue?
3. Where can i find the ultra white mini dash gauge bulbs? who makes them? what are the sizes for the 92-93 preludes, etc.
I dont want to get the white gauge faces, i would rather keep my stock gauges but make them bright blue in color. Also, anything about putting in LED's to make them bluer? i just dont want the LED hot spots. either way, just hit me w/ all ur knowledge cause i really wanna know. thanks!

Yes, i mentioned the q-tip thing. It is similar to the trick that 99-00 civic si's do to make the "si" glow on the gauges. Disassemble your gauge cluster and use a q-tip with some nail polish remover. You can remove the paint behind the numbers and words on you cluster, thus there will be nothing stoping the light from shining through. I will try to find out where you can get the little ultra white bulbs from and let you know.

cool cool, that should also get rid of that green tint that's on my gauges too right? The remover wont take the blackness off, just the clear letters/numbers? Also, would there be a way to get my Prelude cluster to lite up "Si" since i have one? anything i can do to make that happen?
Thanks for the help man, when i get my car back i'll def. dissasmble it and do it. 1 last question.
so i take my cluster apart, take off the coloring, and get the super white bulbs...they should shine white.....so all i need to do is then get blue acetate and put it behind them and they should lite up blue right?

You will have to look at your gauges, but i doubt they are any different than my civic ones. The black face of the gauges is on the front, you are removing the paint from behind the gauges. Just to make sure, try it on a spot that is not visible, but i doubt prelude gauges are diff. I guess you can put any color behind the gauges when your done, just as long as it is transparent so the light can shine through.

No. The paint is being removed from behind the cluster.

so i should be able to just unscrew everything and see the back of the gauges, and then just what? rub the back of the gauges w/ paint thinner? i didn't know you could get to the back of the gauges w/o removing the needles?
Well, civic each have there own seperate unit for the speed, tach, and fuel/temp gauge. When i did this on my civic, i did not have to remove the needle. It is really simple, you should be able to see the number from the back of the cluster, and you just rub the nail polish remover over the areas behind the numbers. I am waiting fo my friend to contact me about where he got the little bulbs at. I will PM you when i find out.
