ok we just finished a swap and i guess im running rich so much smoke comes out of my exhaust also some black stuff shoots out sometimes. How do u stop from running rich? wats wrong with my car. Can it b my cat?

 

I'd say get a VAFC/SAFC and take it to a dyno on a wideband o2.

 

it would help if you gave us an idea on what engine/ecu combination you used. Its kind of hard to diagnose problems when you have no idea what you're dealing with.

 

alright its a b18a and its pr4 ecu please help i took off the cat and to c if that was the problem but then it started shooting black stuff out of the downpipe!

So you had nothing on from the catback, I just did not understand how you could see the black stuff in the down pipe, anyways are you throwing any codes or anything like that ? Besides running rich is there anything else wrong with the car ? Rough idle or anything like that ? Getting a vafc would help but you should not have to, cars don't come stock with vafc's and they don't run rich. What did you change during the swap, spark plugs, caps, etc.....

 

i first saw it some out of my muffler . So i disconeted it now im running open header to c the stuff shoot out. And yes lots of black stuff is coming out. Im running rich so how do i lean it out?? Also does changing the spark plugs,wires, cap and rotor make a very big difference. the idle is alright it goes up and down like from 1 to 1 1/2. help please

 

The idle goes up and down but its all right, what does that mean ? Instead of leaning it out, find out why your running rich and fix the problem.
