Default Question about VTEC and Turbo

Why is it that u cant hear VTEC when u have turbo? besides the Turbo Spooling up? I like how VTEC sounds, and from what I hear they say the VTEC heads to the exhaust, so is there away to hear the VTEC and the Turbo spool at the sametime? or does anyone hear there VTEC still and there turbo? because I wanna boost a GSR block with a B16 head and Type R Intake and Exhaust cams, with Shunk2 Intake Manifold.

I can feel it more than I can hear it. When VTEC kicks in, the RPMs jump from 5000 to 8000 almost instantaneously, as if I were in neutral or my clutch was slipping.

VTEC sound is more pronounced in NA engine because of the exhaust setup. Its more direct hence a bit louder. Turbo tends to quiet down the engine ehoust sound, so VTEC is less audible.

well I might as well just go Supercharger, cause the car is gonna be a Street car anyways and that instant power would be better, but Vortech has better results with the b16 motor instead of a b18 block, maybe I should put a b16 in there and bore it out to a 1.8 or 2.0 then slap a supercharger on it.

I pretty much know about Superchargers, but I mean I just wondered why VTEC isnt louder with turbo, and wondering can I make it just as loud as the Turbo, but I think also that it has somethin to do with the turbocharger itself so if I got a smaller charger then it wouldnt be that loud.

You can't hear VTEC, or anything actually, because of the open dump

It also has to do with the amount of back pressure coming off of a car that is N/A Turbo's feed off of the exhaust gasses and that is going to change the over all sound and tone of the exhaust (In your case VTEC). Just listen to a car that is boosted vs. a car that is N/A You will hear a big difference in sound.

the sound of VTEC is a side-effect, not its purpose. If you are trying to figure out how to TOON your car around a side-effect, you aren't going to receive much useful help here. Because all we care about here is POWER! and how to get more of it.

lolz. Funny Guy. -=P

As for hearing Vtec. Hmm, how about routing your wastegate back to your downpipe/exhaust? and maybe our blow off valve also? and maybe.... you just stick with NA.

That reason I think VTEC is so pronounced NA, is because of the resonation effects from the intake. In FI you dont hear the resonating effects of the intake perhaps because its pressureized. Who cares anyways, NA and FI are two totally different worlds.

Thats the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Vortech doesn't make more power on a b16. The more displacement you have the more power your going to make. If you want a b16 instead then i give you mine and ill take your type R motor. cool?
