Default h23 brake caliper question??

Are there any slimmer calipers out for the h23? or is it safe to grind away some of the material on the outside of the caliper?

That sounds scary. I'll bet these stock calipers flex enough as it is if used hard.

The wheels you want to use are obviously incorrect. Dont hack random bits from your car dude

if it's wheel fitment that's the issue, try some wheel spacers. That would be a lot easier and safer.

Yea I wouldnt go hacking away at your brakes. You might want those and if they fail you will be worrying about more than ur wheels. Better play it safe.

Incorrect, Many wheel spacers are extremely dangerous. Only a few designs on the market are actually safe to use.

Heres the only type of wheel spacers I would use...

And heres the type you should avoid at all costs.

heres why.. Cars nowadays; go higher speeds, handle bumps in the road better and accellerate quicker than ever before. This is why our wheels are 'hub centric'. To maintain physical balance of the wheel and car stability at speeds 70mph+ the weight of the car actually goes through the 'centre bore' in the centre of the break disk. The lug nuts no matter how many (of at least 4.) Only hold the wheel to the brake disk.

So if you have a spacer like in the 3rd picture it doesnt have a centre bore to support the weight of the car through, instead the weight goes through the lug studs, streching them and distortig them as you drive.

A while back a lad at my old job asked my advice on wether he should buy some alloys wheels from sumone that were from a Pug 306 to be used on his vauxhall Corsa. The only issue was that when he and the seller tried fitting them the Vauxhall's brake caliper pressed against the wheel too much when they tried to tighten it up. I explained hub centricities to the guy but against my advice 'Frosty' (As he was nicknamed) decided to buy the wheels and a spacer anyway.
He bought a spacer just like the one in the 3rd picture instead of using a spacer like in the above two pictures that have a correctly suited weight bearing centrebore design and size.

About a month went buy then this one day he didnt turn in for work. Turned out the car had felt 'dangerous' at above 60mph as he told me the wheels vibrated loads slowly getting worse as he sped up, then this day his lug nuts on the front left corer (our passenger side) had streched and after one finally snapped the rest did also letting the wheel leave also and the car ended up written off in the ditch at the side of the road. What made it even more stupid was the fact that he hadn't pad the other lad for the wheels at the time because he didnt have the money for them but was sold them in good faith that he'd pay. So to this day as far as I know the other lad still believes Frosty owes him the money and Frosty won't pay him because the other guy kept saying it'd be fine.

Moral of the story... if you use spacers use quality ones with the correct size centre bore.

[sarcasm]Well I'm sure Honda put it on there for no reason.[/sarcasm]
