Default Who has made 210+ WHP with OEM H pistons? Post your set ups here...

I got into a conversation recently with a good friend of mine whos been building honda road race and drag race motors for several years... He claims that OEM H series pistons crumble with little over 200WHP and or 12.5:1 compression due to the weak ring lands and by his account he has personally seen it happen at least 10 times over the last 4 years...

He also told me that hes shrinking the chambers down in some of these motors to get compression ratios into the 13's... Hmmm...

On the other hand, I know there are quite a few guys putting down 200+ that have had no issues what so ever with their OEM pistons...

Id like to see just who on H-T has reached the 200+ mark on OEM pistons, what your set ups are and track them for the next few months to see if this is something that happens to both street and race motors or just to track queens pushing the limits...

Post away...

You can get there with stock pistons, but you wont last long with stock pistons.

Um, plenty of people with well tuned JRSC H22 setups with stock bottom ends pushing 230+ whp with no issues. I put down about 190 whp on mine with my auto tranny, would have been about 210 whp with a manual. Still running strong, even pushed 9 psi for over a year.

you should be able to hold 200 - 250 just fine on stock pistons. when you start boosting crazy numbers is when ringlands go. i havent heard anyone with all motor having a problem with bad ringlands. i could be wrong, wouldent be the first time.

I know plenty of people too making above 200 with stock pistons. But I also know more people who have destroyed their engines after extended use.

Since you can make almost 200whp now with I,H,E (SMSP & 2.5" cat-back) I don't see why the stock internals would have a hard time holding that kind of power.

Corey's old engine, dyno from 7/03

New engine makes even more thanks to a fresh rebuild and Hondata, but I don't think he wants the new graph posted.

Just did a compression test: 230 230 230 230. 2000 lude with JRSC, had it on for over 1.5 years and 13k miles, over half that at 9 psi. Stock bottom end.

Here's a dyno of my h22civic, although it wasnt tuned properly it had a fuel leak I believe contributed to its demise shortly after, we cut it off after noticing the fuel leak, thats why it cuts off just before 6500, it obviously was on its way well over 300

the turbo was a to4e 57trim with .60A/R
