Default Arizona Firebird Raceway (main)

ASRA will be holding a race with HPDE sessions on Saturday evening June 26th at Firebird main. I was told yesterday that there will be HPDE sessions along with either 2 sprint races or the "3 hour night enduro" beginning around 10:00PM.

Drivers meeting @ 6:00PM First car out 6:30PM

Please check out the Arizona Sports Racing Association website for times and details although I don't believe the website has been updated to show the additional HPDE sessions.
I believe you must register ahead to recieve a substantial discount.

Well guys, I was planning on going to the next track event but did not think it would fall on that day. June 26 is my fathers 50th birthday and we are having a big party for him. So count me out. Damn, I'm just going to troll the nasaaz site and see what comes up next.

Looks like Erik and I will be running the enduro together in the GSR. This will be my first 3+ hour event so we'll see how it goes. If anything it should be a learning experience.

Travis,
Drink plenty of carrot juice it's dark in the back section : ) Hopefully we will have some other touring "B" cars...

See you there!

BTW....
Are you guys going to make the NASA-AZ meeting on the same day?
I really wanted to make the meeting to see what is happening since the only date they currently have is in Sept at PIR on a Sunday/MONDAY??? I may be doing alot of traveling to SoCal this next season.

Why? I'm going to have my eyes closed anyway

What's the meeting for? I hadn't heard anything about it.

Default ASRA Firebird 3 HR Race Report

Erik/Travis

How did everything shake out?

I qualified second overall and after fighting with a Z06 and Bondurant Mustang for the first 5-6 laps I gained a good margin then I then settled into a 3 hr pace during which it became increasingly difficult to get the trans into gear. I ran the last 5 laps of so in the back section in just 4th gear. My clutch is toast!
I hope I get it repaired with the new motor by Willow Springs in July.

dude...your car is LOUD.

even after a few repair stops, we ended up with the overall win -- the last 2 hours were relatively boring. my dad actually came into the pits to ask if there was anybody else left running.

I drove the start so I was out there with you for a little while. After a while I couldn't hear you anymore so I figured something was going wrong. It wasn't until the 1.5 hour mark that I found out you guys had dropped out with clutch problems. Sorry to hear that...you guys were moving!

Erik and I ended up with the Touring C win with a 3 lap margin. Even better, we ended up 4th overall and I'm damn proud of our effort given that it was our first 3-hr. We'll certainly be back next year

I have some video from the event that I'll post when I get it edited. No in-car unfortunately, but there's some good stuff nonetheless.
