Default Looking for a good/best suspension setup

I'm getting my Prelude pretty soon, and just wanted to start off with suspension work first. I was just wondering what some of you people already have done and how it feels....

Thanks

best for money would probably be kyb agx's with H&R's

ground controls and koni yellows are probably about the most expensive spring/shock setup..

for that much though you could get true coilovers..

dont go with tein.. try D2 racing or omni power(if they come out with ones for the lude)... they are aluminum bodied.. unlike the teins..

depends on what you want.

for pure track performance, custom rate Ground Controls and revalved/shortened konis would outperform most coilover setups for the lude.

for ease and value, springs and shocks or the tein SS are up your alley.

suspension work usually boils down to: ride height, spring rates, damper settings, sway bars. Basically, new shocks, springs, and a sway bar. most of the other stuff is just a gimmick.

so what exactly is a "true coilover"?

last time i checked ground control made threaded sleeves that fit onto the shocks. and they have several different types of threaded sleeves depending on the application you want.

true coilover meaning matched sets of shocks and adj. ht springs together in one neat little package. Ever since the coilover sleeve, the term coilover has become as ambiguous as kevin spacey's sexuality. i don't think they're necessarily better or worse than GC+shocks.

Look in the classifieds for a set of used HA's. I think there was a set right now for sale. Damn best suspension for the money IMO.

There have been new offerings since I got the GC / Koni yellows, but at the time, it was a big improvement. Since you're from TX, you might relate: taking posted 40 mph corners at 80 mph without tire squeal with Yoko A520 215mm tires. Koni shocks are great and can be re-built. Downside with GC: shock knock. Upside: you can pick whatever spring rate you want, and no rust like with Tein. It rains in Texas.

Yes but what your leaving out is konis cant handle anything over 500lbs springs. Any more and they have to be revalved.

Yeah, you're right. If I was more hardcore auto-x or track racer, I'd get something else. Daily driver / weekend warrior works though.

Well, what would be best for daily driving/looks?? I don't need anything too crazy, and I"m not really planning on doing auto-x...I'm looking for true coilovers, cause I want to lower and raise my car whenever I need to in case I decide to buy rims

Thanks

tein SS sounds like your suspension.

the upper limit is anywhere between 500-600 lbs, but for most people, this is way too much spring for daily driving applications anyway.

still to get coilovers with rates that high you're looking at the tein flex, JIC's, buddy club's or zeals, and those suspensions already cost ~1300-1800, the same price as revalved konis and GC's.
