Default sohc NON vtec swap options for 89 crx dx?

from searching the archives, i've found that i can swap in a d16a6 from and si if switch to a complete si engine harness. but these motors are harder to find. so if i cant get one that is in my budget, what are my next best options? my goals for this project are not spectacular, i just want to make my daily driver a little funner to drive. also, i would like to keep my options open to turbopanda internals and boost in the future (a lot funner daily driver).

so anyways, what is the next best sohc NON vtec engine swap into a DX besides the d16a6? lemme know, thanks.

The JDM SOHC ZC, and DOHC ZC are also good swaps
Going from MPFI D15 w/ DX gearing to
a MPFI 1.6 with Si gearing is a BIG difference.

I wouldn't recommend jumping the gun and going str8 to the B series, especially if this if going to be your first swap

why would you even bother wasting you time posting this useless information?

but to answer your question, i already have a built turbo gsr that is my street/strip car and i dont need another money pit. like i said in the original post, i just want to have a daily driver that is funner to drive. and mpfi is a whole lot funner to drive than than the dpfi that comes with the dx.

thanks for the suggestions. do you know if the 88-91 d-series tranny will bolt up to a sohc or dohc zc? i am guessing that it will bolt up to the sohc, but i'm not sure.

I second that!!!

even just doing the MPFI swap and putting an Si tranny in your car on the stock engine will make a HUGE difference!!!

d16a6 is fun. Search under my name for recent post. I just got done putting a d16a6 into my hf to hold me over while im waiting on my cylinder head. That thing is pretty quick for spending 200 bucks. all it has is a gsr intake with a k&n filter and a generic header on it with 2 1/4 pipe. It pulls really hard. I think it would have killed my d16z6(it was in a coupe ) I'll let you know what times we run on sunday night.

U Really wanna spend the TIME to look for an Si tranny.

You don't get the benefit using the DX, STD 4 spd, or worse, HF....

you can still use your stock axles with the Si trans
