Does anyone know how to tell what year a jdm motor is? Do you go by the code on the front of the head? Anyway to tell what year the block is? I got a b16 with lsd and i was told it was a 95 but their is a 91 above cylinder #4, and the map sensor is external. Not that it all matters cause #3 only compression tested to 130 where as #4 was 210 #2 was 210 and #1 was 185. I hope they make it right!!!!!!!

The compression for the #3 cylinder looks pretty bad. maybe the rings on that piston are shot.

 

if the codes says 91 then its actually a 92. I believe honda is a year behind. I also have a jdm 91, I got 210 on all four. Is the motor in? I got low compression when I cranked with my hand.

well i did a leak down on #3 and it is BLOWING out the intake at tdc. any thoughts on the external map sensor? The guy at the importers put me off til tomorrow i guess the boss will be in then. he told me to go ahead and put the motor in and the number will come up. well if it comes up from 130 to 210 (80) then will the rest be at 290(LOL) i think not. What upsets me is that the guy said the motor was a 95. I paid with a credit card so hopefully they have my back. guess i'll find out tomorrow

 

the importer said they will send me another motor, they really wanted me to install this one and let it run. the owner of the company got kinda po'ed when i told him i did a leak down and it was Blowing out the intake but he said to go ahead and install it and it would be ok, i told there was no way i was going to accept this motor in this condition and then he said that they will replace it.
