hey guys....my wife has a 1999 accord 4 door 4cyl.,the car ALWAYS uses oil between changes....today i added 1.5 qts.,the car only has 48k original mile....what gives?? any ideas would be appreciated.....tom

 

my accord (h22) consumes oil inbetween oil changes too... dunno if this is supposed to be. My accord motor would do the same thing.

 

i was gonna put Mobil 1 in the car,but im not sure its worth it with the way this car uses oil....might just as well stay with conventional.......tom

 

dont put the mobile 1 in...unless ur engine is really built its not worth using synthetic oil

 

well,the engine is "bone stock"....i was just trying to help it last as long as possible!!...tom

 

honda has service bullitins out that say 1 qt in every 1000mi is normal

How many miles did it take to get down 1.5 quarts? It's not good to let them get that low.

 

Does it usually happen only when the car is driven hard?

 

no,...the car is never REALLY driven hard.....which may be part of the problem....the wife works 2 miles from home,so you get the idea....although we are 15 miles min. from almost all dept.stores....walmart etc.....tom
