Rebuilding my S1...what synchros/gears do I need?
Ok, I have to rebuild 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th in my JDM S1 transmission. I was wondering where I could find what I need and what I would need teh parts from? would synchros from a USDM S1 work or what? Not sur eif I need the actual gears tehmselves or not, but it couldnt hurt to find out what I need for them as well. I am gonn have my tranny oulled apart within a week to see how bad the damage is and see how much it will cost me to fix it. If it is too much I am gonn buy a new tranny (well very low mileage tranny).
TIA!!!
TIA!!!
The consensus seems to be that you cannot use 90-91 LS synchros in a JDM S1/J1 transmission. You need to find some synchros from Japan. GL.

But the S1 tranny is for my B series engine. What good would SOHC tranny parts do me?

You succesfully used 90-91 Integra synchros in a JDM S1/J1? I wonder why everyone says it doesn't work.

That is correct. I am not exactly sure which trans I have (J1/Y1/YS1 yadda yadda) but it is a JDM cable B16 trans with no LSD. I replaced the 3rd gear synchro without a hitch. I think others are still stuck on the JDMness of the trans

Very interesting. I would really appreciate it if you could perhaps find out what transmission you have?

How do it tell? Most JDM trans came with a sticker rather that a riveted on ID tag. Mine has neither. The only other way would be to pull it apart and count the teeth on the gears. I don't think I will be doing that anytime soon. *knock on wood*

Is it an unmodified transmission? As in no taller fifth gears or anything? What clutch are you using (92+ Integra, or 90-91 Integra)? What is your rpm at 60 mph in fifth gear?

Unmodified except the Quaife. It is the small spline (90-91) and rpms (if I remember correctly) sit at around 4,400 at 70mph in 5th. I haven't driven it in a while so I am not sure but I think that is right.
Ok so my S1 is trashed. I am looking for a new one. Would hmotorsonline or JDMShit get me a good deal on one? Does anybody know of any other sites that sell trannies?
also, I want to know if anyone else has a B16A swap and has their car lowered. If so, does your radius arm hit the tranny? I have a dent in my case from the radius arm....My car was droppped by the previous owner by cutting the spring I think.
