first time swapper ZC. I hate to be the one to say it but this subject has been covered a hundred times before and it usually just brings up an argument of about 5 pages of nothing but b series d series stuff. good luck though and welcome to honda tech.
First swap = definetely keep it d series if youre doing it yourself
I did a zc swap, went fine for a beginner by myself with hand tools, got older and did some exterior mods, competition winning heavy stereo, then I went back to the motor with bolts ons, ecu , cam and now nitrous
Soon to be swapped for an h22, Id start with a zc though, can get a zc and spray it for way under the price of a b16 and be quite a bit faster, but more risky
Up to you really

well a ZC swap is about as un-complicated as you can get... but if you have any mechanical skills and know how to use the search button...you can do a 1st gen b16 swap with relative ease these days....
either way...search and decide which way you want to go and GOOD LUCK

B16 < ZC
ZC =
A drop in, u can use same ecu (Si), same tranmission, same wiring harness (Si)
B16 =
You will need:
1.mount kit
2.axles
3.shift linkage
4.rear motor mount bracket
5.gsr throttle cable
Pro(s) Con(s)
ZC
Pro: Bolt On, Good Daily Driver, Torque, Price,
Con: No Vtec, Not as much H.P, Weaker Rods
B16
Pro: Vtec, High HP, Stronger Internals, Newer
Con: No Direct Fit, $$$, Torque
In the end:
B16 < ZC for daily driver
B16 < ZC Price
ZC < B16 ALL OUT DRAG
