Help, Tranny issue and strange whine. Please help. Input shaft bearing??
Hey i have a 96 civic ex with a 98 B18C1. Just recently, like today, first gear has a louder wine than ive heard it ever do, and going from 5th to fours is very hard, doesnt want to get into any of the gears. But when i get it into gear, i put the clutch in and take it out of gear, then when i take my foot off the clutch i hear a click of some kinda that kind of sounds different than usual. I checked my clutch fluid and it seemed ok, and have no other idea except that one. what else could it be?? would the input shaft bearing being bad make it hard to get the car into gears?? what should i do when i haver my tranny off to put my clutch in?? should i just bring my whole tranny to a tranny shop?? they wont charge for labor on taking it out of my car, they just have to tear it down.
Can these easily be changed by me? how hard is it ripping apart the tranny and changing the bearings? I will have the tranny off next week for a new clutch and flywheel that is going in.
please describe the noise and the click better.
does the tranny whine or makes noise while stopped?noise with clutch pressed?depressed?

whining only in first gear. when i do not have foot on the clutch. then going to other gears is a biatch, it feels like i hit something and then have to almost force it into gears, but it is fine once they are in. And again, the whine is only in first gear.
what would that run me to get it fixed? i will already have the tranny off for my clutch install. can i just bring it to them?

ok i drove it again today and now it seems as if the wine is still there in first gear but seemed to have less trouble getting it it gears. what is up?
The gear whine in 1st is mostly likely a worn 1st gear speed gear. The hard shifting could be a lot of things. Does it grind when you shift? Or is just hard to shift? And what gears are shifting hard? First off you should drain the tranny fluid and check it for metal shaving or chips.
brass color is going to be from blocking ring wear
silver color is going to be from bearing wear
