Effects of Changing tire Overall Diameters
Hi All,
I want to know if anyone could calculate how much I would lose in torque / acceleration if I were to increase my Overall tire diameter by 20mm (close to an inch)
Reason:
in Oz, it's difficult to get race rubber for my 16x7's in 205/45/16 which the OD is around 590mm (same as 205/50/15)
Now I was thinking about a set of D01J's but they only come in 205/50/16 which is 611mm in OD
Does anyone know how much I'd lose in acceleration?
Say, e-race the 1/4mile hahaha :D ... or real life straightline racing with another R experience (eg. with 215/40/17 racing stock R ... losing 1/2 a car length)
Would an ATS FD make up for that 20mm?
Thanks!

It's only arithmetic...
590mm/611mm=4.40/FD
Where FD is the final drive ratio that would cause no change with larger tires.
It's 4.56, so a JDM (4.785) or ATS FD (4.929) with the tires would both be an improvement over stock.

Thanks Guys!!
I don't wanna be losing the advantage of the ATS ... AUSDM FD's are the same as the JDM and i'm not good at maths haahha so it doesn't make much sense to me, but i'll take your word for it!! :D
