Default Cigarette lighter 12v impact, anyone use these?

http://www.toolprice.com/product/1308J

Does anybody use one of these for their track car or race car? Is there a downside to this type of product? My new race car will have a functional cigarette lighter socket... Thanks.

I've not used one but I have seen autocrossers change tires with them. The ones I have seen were pretty slow but people seemed to use them.

If you must buy one of these, at least only flush 20 bucks instead of 30 and go with the harbor freight one.
That said, I used one once. Once.

I don't own one, but a well-regarded and fellow Honduh enthusiast swears by the Harbor freight model. I've seen it handle a variety jobs (e.g., LCA shock bolt) with no problem.

I was thinking about it as a tool to accelerate tire changes. Will it be up to the task? I'll check out the Harbor Freight one too...

a wratchet as a breaker and a highspeed drill work for me to speed things up. An impact would be nice, but the good ones are pricey.

Harbor Freight, $120-$130 for the 19.2V 220 ft-lb jobber.

I have the $20 12V Harbor Freight one. So far, it has been successful at loosening 3 out of 4 of my CRX harmonic balancer bolts.

Fast, it is not. Unlike normal impact wrenches, it spins up, then locks...

My 18" breaker bar is much faster.

absolute crap. this is the type that will internally spin then hit to get some kind of impact, but the time it takes to spin up and actually hit is a long few seconds, like 5-10 seconds. and you can feel its pretty weak. absolutely horrible. dont waste your money. or ill sell you mine for $20.... barely used.

slow? not even usable. id much rather use my hands...

I have one, it's WAAAAAY better than turning them by hand. It's small too, convenient for autocrosser.

You won't trade it for the world after a long day in the 100 degree heat.

Yes it's slow but much much faster than by hand. And you can keep the thing spooled up by tapping the trigger.

IMO. YMMV.

They have a different version at wal-mart (couldn't find it on the web) that retails for 39.99. It 'says' it can deliver 250 ft/lbs of torq.

I'd like to know if any one has any experience with it.
(like can it remove hub nuts, laughable I know but worth a try, or harmonic balancer pully bolts)

I saw that and asked in another thread, but I don't think anyone saw it .

If you wanna be cheap use a 3/8 drive extension with a drill bit welded in the end.....stick that in a drill ....works great for taking loose nuts off

But would it remove the stubborn hub nuts and harmonic balancer bolts?

I'm really not concerned with speed. (like 5 mins per nut would not be a waste if it would break it loose)
Once I break the nut loose I can do it by hand with a ratchet.

I ask because it's going to be a while before I can get an air compressor and a real impact wrench.

Today I just returned my Pepboy's Goodyear cordless impact wrench. I don't think it can do 200 ft lbs like it says. It kind of just clacks away loudly at my lug nuts, but nothing happens. Then I take my breaker bar, and the lug nuts come off easily. The main thing I hated about the Goodyear impact wrench was that it was really loud and would probably damage my hearing. I was thinking of getting one of those + shaped lug wrenches and spinning it.
