Camber wear
I have some minor wear on the inner sides of my tires, now I do have a camber kits just not installed yet. Anways, I was wondering if I could switch my tires around a bit to help even out the wear. The tires I have are directional so I would have to actually take the tire off the wheel. I figure if I went from the driver side front and swaped the passenger side tire with that one and the same on the back it should be ok correct? (sorry it's a bit confusing the explain)

Uhm, you and I know it's the camber affecting it. You and I know you have a camber kit waiting to be installed. Since we both know these things, why not install it, and off you go? Maybe remove the driver tire and place it on the passenger rim and then take the passenger tire and mount onto the driver rim?

then do it and make sure the toe is correct. Many people have misconceptions about the impact of camber on tire wear. Most people will not see any difference from minimal negative camber (less than 3 degrees) The toe is what will murder your tires. Believe me, i have had my last 3 honda's without a camber kit, but a correct set toe, and seen more than 20,000 miles on used tires w/ no visible wear.
In terms of your tires, dont bother switching them. Put them on the back if the rear ones are better. Otherwise, just buy new tires and sell your camber kit (unless you are dropped more that 3", then you might need it)

any of you who are not aware of this but Nitto Neo-Gens have negative camber on them so when you lower your car it will not affect tire wear. they are great tires, i've had them on my 93 civic for a few months now.
waddup peeps i wonder if anyone can tell whats my problem , well i have 94 dx coupe with skunk2 coilover and a camber kit my problem is even with tha camber kit it still eating up my tires front and rear my question is do i need alignment done or new tires, i have firestones tires on my car rite now which is a good brand for tires
get your car aligned and fix the TOE like stated above. dont worry about the camber. the toe is a bit off on my car and i ran some neo-gens for a while and they still looked mint. i was pretty impressed.
You can fix caster, camber, and toe when you get your car aligned! Fixing those things are part of the wheel aligning process...
You can't just go start adjusting things without knowing how far or less you should go into it

Alignment shop will do it get a 4 wheel alignment like 50.00 and you dont have to even get your hands dirty. An for the thread started get the tires switched I have done it before when I was short of cash and then install the kits. At least you will get somemore time out of the tires.

have you ever went downhill skiing??? think of your front wheels as the skis. they should do straight down the road. if you were trying to go straight down a hill with one of your skis crooked, you will have a hard time. if your toe is off 1/8" and you drive a mile down the road your car wants to be 28 feet directly over. you dont let it because you are controlling the wheel, but your tires are feeling it.

That's a REALLY good way of explaining it.

So what do i do in my case... I drive a 98 honda ex and i got the front camber kit installed on my car and then had my car aligned... Of course this really fixed the tire ware compared to my 1st pair of zex tires (which i went thru in a month) but I still seem to be gettin some tire ware in the inside of the front tires.... I took it to a a suspension shop and asked him and he said that my front tires are doing a black white, black white, black white.. I dont know what that means.. So I need some help. Should i get it realigned and ask them to fix the toe or what ?? HELP ! thanks!
I used to be of the camp that doesn't believe in camber wear. Then I dont know, the tire receipts piled up and I said gee, all my tires wear to the belts on the inside edge, the rest of the tire is still good, the toe is within spec, but I ask the alignment tech to ignore the camber. Despite the fact that they are constantly telling me its the camber its the camber stupid as they laugh at "honda tech". Hmm, what could it be?! My camber was only -1.3 degrees. Now I have it set to around -.9. Hopefully that doesn't waste tires.
Toe wastes tires within weeks. Camber wastes tires within the year.
