the shop that my car is getting painted at is using BASF paint. 3 coats of paint, 3 coats of clear. What are your experiences and/or opinions on this brand of paint?

 

why not just base clear dupont or something

that makes no sense. Are you inferring that you put clear coat on before the actual paint? base...clear...dupont...hmmmm very confused at that phrase.

 

most paint has clear coat already in it...base + clear = baseclear ......dupont being the brand

but you wanted to know if anyone has used BASF paint. this brand of paint is good as well...just depends on how good the painter is, that and how well the car was preped before painting will mostly determine what your car looks like...i was just making a recommendation

 

A base with clear in it is a single stage paint job. Quality isn't as greast as if you were to do base and then a clear.

 

oh ok, I have never heard of that though

 

to answer your question yeah that sounds like it could be a good paint job .. but the quality is in the body work .. and the steps inbetween the paint .. good luck

The guy who gave me the price quote said that he was doing a 3 stage milano red for me so I guess that is good.

 

anymore input on this BASF brand paint?

correct me if im wrong .. isnt all paint BASF ?

 

basf makes glasuret(sp), rm diamont and limco paint. all 3 are very good. im curently using rm diamont base with limco clear on my car.
