Fell in love with my 96 again
I recently sold my wife's G35 (for a profit) and purchased a 96 Maxima SE fully loaded. I would have bought another Accord but the one I looked at had the ABS light on and I almost literally ran away. Anyway, the Maxima looks good and has all the features; ABS, airbags, leather, climate control, heated seats and more. I drove it on Monday and Tuesday to get it inspected. That is a whole different story. I have to order a light for it so I can't do anything with it until Thursday. So, my wife drove it to the metro today and I drove my Accord. Man, the difference in these cars. I have mine lowered but I need a new suspension, which is on order (H&R springs, KYB AGXs - not too low/firm but sporty I hope). Too, much wheel play in the Max, too big feel and on and on. The Maxima obviously has more power and it is nice to shift the gears with a V6 (what a long freaking throw! Whoever designed this throw should be jobless) but man my Accord is just more solid. I have had my car for 8 years and I'm always one carwash away from falling in love with it all over again. Forget about the fact that I need to get it painted (looks bad to me but not others), new wheels (I've had mine for the entire 8 years; got my money's worth), new driver's window motor, new front speakers and the suspension installed. This is still the car for me. I don't know how I'm going to ever get rid of it but I will be getting something nice when I retire for the first time in five years (Infiniti M45?).
I can take some pictures but compared to you guys' cars mine is nothing special. We have just grown together over the past eight years and we are comfortable with each other.

I know what you mean though. It's like driving my mom's TL and my accord. Mine has its quirks i can put to my advantage, it may be underpowered, but in my mind it's a better car. But damn when that v6 kicks in on that TL...

Have you seen the M45 that is coming out? It is off the hook! I'm not going to retire (for the first time) until 5 more years. During that time me and my Accord will be OK. I have some futuere gifts planned for the Accord so it isn't nearly done yet!
every time i think about a new car, something like a 2005 accord or bmw, I think "man...why would i do something dumb like that?"
1) i like the way our 5th gen car looks
2) i like the way it handles & drives (on my apexi coilovers)
3) i like i'm getting 29mpg on cheap gas doing 80mph all the time
4) i like that parts are SUPER cheap (well...via my methods)
5) i like my four doors + 5 spd
6) i like that our 5th gens can go 250k+ w/ our low comp engines
7) i like how we have all the 'new' stuff like dual airbags, ABS, etc.
8) i like how my DMV registration is cheap
and so on and so on. The only thing is wish for is that my comp/collision insurance would go down on this 10 year old car here in LA damnit.
