Default Engine Check LED on

hi, I was on a 230km business trip. I rev more than 4.5krpm every now and then until the 5th or 6th time, engine check LED turned on, I continued to drive normally for another 1 hour or so, until I ran out of gas and refilled. After which the engine check LED did not turn on again.

On my way home, I drove hard a few more times, each time about 30 seconds - 1 minute, and engine check turned on shortly after.

Checked the oil level at cool engine, it's OK. Is there something wrong with my VTEC?

It's a right-hand-drive CD5, where can I find the switch to get the code?

Help appreciated, merci beaucoup!!

If it is a RHD cd5....I would check the opposite side (glove compartment) and pull the code

Greetings,

Ok found the blue connector thanks, jumped it and found code 22. I believe it's something to do with the Oil Pressure Switch or its circuit. Will get this checked sometime soon....

Merci mille fois

Vtec solenoid base gaskets are known leakers.

And one of my friends did mention to me that VTEC is "quite a reliable" thingy. How much does it cost to fix a code 22 in general & worst case scenario?

Thanks!

Hi,

VTEC solenoid is good, but serviced.

Replaced with new Oil Pressure Switch, first, second & third rev up to 6krpm & maintain rev, OK, fourth try gives CEL right after hitting 4krpm, pulled the code just now still #22. What else could causing the problem???

Pleeeease help!! Thanks!!

And you said you had enough oil, right?

The only thing I could see causing it is either a bad vtec solenoid, oil pressure sensor (cirucits or sensor). Possibly a seal, but check the oil first and foremost. Make sure you check it cold and also after it has reached operating temp.

Ok I've missed out the checking oil at operating temperature part. How much will the oil-indicator drop at operating temp compare to cold?

Thank you!
