Default Anyone have the JG 301x camshaft?

I am looking at getting this jg 301x camshaft for my civic. Does anyone have this particular one in their car? Pro's / Cons? What can i expect out of it? I currently have the stock si one in. Will i have to change the valve springs? Any info would be helpful. My block has been rebuilt P&P, with 11:1 comp, and eagle rods. I have DC 4-2-1 header, CAI, exhaust, MSD, and an adj sprocket.
thanks

Did it kill your gas mileage. .I do not mind sacrificing MPG for some umph!
But by how much? My car is a daily driver.. i am currently getting approx 25-26.
I can go down. . but i would hate to be down in the high teens. . low 20's is fine.
Did you have to change your springs? .Did you need a FPR?
so many questions.

friend had it in his 91 Si Hatch when he bought his whole JG Pro Series head package.
was running dc header with custom 2.25 piping with magnaflow muffler and cold air intake

the JG 301x sounds bad *** at idle.....lumpy that is

"JDMboy" was the guy's "91 si hatch" a daily driver?
Just curious, how will it affect my MPG.
What am i gonna lose? 3-4mpg?

you will loose a lil gas MPG but nothing dramatic
this was his daily driver and he would let her rip all the time!
hahhahahaha

he drove back and forth 3-days out of the week at about 35-45 mins away for school and home and around town or to the track for some fun.

14.6 best pass regular old street tires.

it was a rush having this set up back in 95' cause this whas the time when low 15 sec to 14-sec hondas were the **** for 1/4 mile times!
hahaha

so anyways its cool to drive with just have to get use to the idle being lumpy at stop lights and stop signs.
will sound like it will die at times but wont.
it sounds beautiful

the cool thing we remember about that set up was the fact that Stephen Papadakis worked on his car
hope this helps some

How do you read the camshaft? like, what does lift, duration, valve lash? what do those numbers mean? i have looked up a few other mid to upper camshafts and all the nubers are different? is lift 410/402, duration 274/260 good? I don't know??

Also, since i can only post 5 times in 24hrs, here is another dilema i am having.
it is an idleing issue. .when the car is cold, it idles around at around 500 rpm, when it gets warm it is fine. When i turn my AC on, sometimes the car dies, idle drops loooowwww. After the car is warmed up, the car idles fine, when the AC is on, it idles at 1100rpm+. I have replaced my plugs with NGK's. Also, when i am cruising at 2000 rpm, (neightborhoods) and i step on the gas, my car putters. . what the hell is going on?!?!?

duration is the elapsed time that the valve is open. Lift is the distance that the valve opens from its seat. valve lash is the distance between your rocker arm (cam follow) and valve.

I have a comp 59300 cam in my mini-me, and before i bought my VAFC, i had my VTEC solenoid hooked up to a toggle... when it would cold idle at about 1500 rpm when i first started it, i would hit the VTEC and it would lope and sound bad ***...

makes me wish i locked the VTEC rockers "engaged" or bought a huge *** cam for a non VTEC D series...

I just picked it up. It looks nice, just the fact that it was sitting at my friends garage for a little bit and there is that surface rust. . kinda like what happens when it rains and your front brakes have that rust. . i guess i need some 1000 grit to sand it a bit. .

I'll try the WD-40. . sanding down the cam really doesn't sound right!

just hose it with WD40. don't put sand paper on it!

If the WD 40 doesn't get it then maybe try some sort of solvent or rubbing compound. You're going to scratch it up with the sand paper.

EDIt - aw fugg it... get some 60 grit on a grinder and have at it.
