ATV Problems
I got a 300 Honda ATV 01 model. It fires up and runs for about 5 minutes then the exhaust gets red hot and the thing shuts off. After that I cant get it to fire again. I thought something might be clogging it , But I checked and nothing. It got so hot once it melted the cooling plate down.

That was my first thought too. If it's running lean it will get real damn hot. If you run it like that too long the it will sieze the piston. Do not run it like that.

yep, if its melting things im sure you have already done some damage and will be seeing a loss in compression. ive seen actual race teams jet the bike by useing the pipe color to tell if its lean or rich, but thats mainly on 2 strokes. since yours is running lean, maybe you have something stuck in the main jet and starving it for fuel. its got to be something around or in the carb unlesss you changes anything like removing the air box lid or anything like that.
Z, im sure dealing with a 2 stroke youve seen the pipe turn blue if your useing a bare metal one.
