Default gsr camshaft install and valve adjustment

me and my bro did a camshaft install on his gsr and did so without a valve adjustment. the car runs fine. i later was told that a valve adjustment is a neccessary part of the install. im about to put his gsr cams into my boosted 99 si and i was going to do so without the valve adjustment. my concern here is:

is it neccessary?

Why would you NOT adjust them?? Changing the camshafts is more difficult than adjusting the valve lash.

Your bro might have lots of dumb luck, or maybe he just can't feel the difference whether it's running right or not.
