92 prelude or 93 prelude? want to know what be the better year? what engine was best in which model?
there are a few differences...
i own a 93 prelude and i would not buy either the 92 or 93 for these reasons
although i love my prelude ... if i had the option to buy again i would get a 94-96 because of the interior changes... the 92 had the worst interior, upgraded some in 93 ... and made much better in 94-96... basically 92 and 93 dont have a center console at all and no cup holder (if thats important too you) as far as the motor goes... depends on what your going to do with it... in 93 and up you can get a prelude with a H22 vtec which is the best for bolt-ons or keeping stock... but as im sure most of the people around here will tell you... i believe the H23 Si model responds better to boost...
if you want to go fast buy either the Si (160hp) or the VTEC (190hp) model
if your not interested in going fast get the S (125ish???) model....
hope that helps

the only thing i dont like about the 92 interior is the bigass box in the back seat... i plan on changing that sometime soon.
if i were to buy another lude id get a 93 VTEC. just b/c i dislike the centerconsole (specifically E-brake placement) on the 94-96's

</TD></TR></TABLE>you can switch but it requires some minor fabrication. there are a few write-ups that detail the process.

you could do that but it is much more costly than just buying the 94-96. Parts needed to swap over are tweeter covers, speedo/tach, center console, wheels, possible leather interior, switches on door panels. there are probably some others i missed.
If i was in the market for prelude again i would be looking for a 94 or 95.
96 is OBD2

the S model is 135hp, it has the 2.2L engine out of the accord.
not a bad engine, but weak

I honestly dont mind the interior in the 92. It is odd, no doubt, but the huge armrest box thing makes up for the tiny *** glove box. I admit i could use a cup holder though. I'd also rather have the h22, but i have an h23. Im happy with h23 though, its still a great motor, and one of the better honda has made...it just lacks vtec. The fastest fwd honda in the world is a prelude with an h23a1....theyre awesome for turbo.

I agree. I like the box compartment.
No one eve sits in the back so i am glad I can use the extra space for storage.

Is the fastest fwd honda really a lude, that seems rediculous when you could save about a thousand pounds and put it in a hatch.

ok i now understand that 93 was the first year to get vtec for the prelude. that said. what motor came vtec? the si motor that was a 2.3 or a 2.2. what other models were there and the motors that came with them(vtec)???

What makes you say that? I personally dont thnk they are designed very well to fit a FI set up and for a very good reason as well....theyre never made for FI.
Anyoen else think the same? I mean in an engineering stand point with such a large bore and with it's stroke?.....not best for FI id say.

Low reving, but bigger displacement. Either way you're going to have to resleeve w/ internals and other engine work. I'd say both would work fine. I'd rather boost the 98+ engine, bore it would to 2.3 throw some forged pistons in there (along with a shitload of other stuff = $$)
if I had the chance to get a prelude again, i'd probaly get a 95

model Si = 2.3L non VTEC (160hp) avaliable 92-96
model S = 2.2L non VTEC (135hp) avaliable 92-96
model VTEC = 2.2L with VTEC (190hp) avaliable 93-96
if your going to by a prelude and want the fastest one and plan to modify the motor with bolt ons and such you should be looking at 93-95 VTEC models. although the Si models are nice too. A year 96 prelude has OBD2 which you dont want if you are going to modify your car.
hope that helps
