Homemade del sol cam mount...take a look, get some ideas. make your own =)
a fellow sol dude asked me to post up my cam mount...my webserver was down this whole time. that white stuff at the bottom is drawler liner to keep it snug in the hole, and i screwed the top part into the dome light screw hole. its pretty sturdy. looks ghetto, but it works well

It wont pass tech for any east coast drivers ed organization that I know of.

I guess racecars dont need cages or harnesses as long as they are good drivers?

It is unlikely to hit anything while autocrossing, but not impossible. I have seen many contact incidents happen at autocrosses, not matter how well they are planned. I think the point is that if a mishap were to occur, this set up would more than likely increase the chance of injury and damage.
You should really have it directly bolted to a fixed location (such as seat belt mounts) and use a material that will more likely deform under impact rather than splinter, such as metal.

If you wrapped it in carbon fiber looking decal everyone would have loved it and asked you to make them one.
But seriously,
Isn't that camera suposed to be tethered to the camera mount?

what good does that do? the camera mount isn't attached to anything, and its made out of WOOD, for chrissakes
if this d00d wants to run this thing in AX, where he's the only one thats gonna get hit by it when it comes loose, no ones gonna care. If you show up at an HPDE run by any organization that gives a sheet about safety, its gonna have to come out of car.
If you want to see what a proper camera mount looks like, try Brey-Krause's web site.
