a/c clutch replacement
on my sanden when i move my pulley it has a bearing noise, so i have to replace it, now can i remove the clutch and pulley assembly without discharging the R12? i wanna get this to work soon...any help is appreciated...
I dont think its doable unless you remove the compressor its in a pretty tight space...you could probably get the clutch off with it in place but the pulley might be tricky. R134a aint all that bad....
yeh i can remove the condensor from the spot, thats not the problem...i just want to make sure i can remove the clutch/pulley without taking out the r12 before hand...and why use r134a when i have a shitload of r12 left...
I had to replace the whole compressor. The clutch would need to be removed by a machine shop, but it would have to be removed to do so, thus discharging the R12. I converted mine to R134A very easily after replacing the compressor, high pressure switch, and expansion valve. 134A is better in the long run. If something goes wrong with the system in the future, the 134A is a much cheaper alternative. Soon R12 (Freon) will go away forever (good riddance) and 134 will be what's left. Converting is inevitable. Better for the ozone layer, too.
