to rebuild (s1) or not to rebuild (buy a new one)
3rd gear is really notchy and pops out of gear alot. or ill put it in gear and it'll be in neutral so i have to shift to fourth and then to third again on my s1 tranny. should i rebuild it at a tranny shop or just buy a new tranny?
thanks,
matt

If it was me i would save and rebuild! I am having the same problem. SO i got a newer trans that doesnt grind in my car and i am rebuilding the one that WAS in my car! It is expensive but at least you know you have a trans that will be PERFECT!
I am just starting to buy everything. I am a tech for honda and it will cost me much less than everyone, unless you have a hook-up. It will most likely end up costing over 1000(if you replace almost everything), but well worth it. I am going to get a new second, third gear sets. New syncros and bearings for everything. And hopefully LSD! I have 2 Ls usdm trannys. I am going FI but, everything from a usdm GSR i THINK will transfer to the S1. I believe thats what my friend did when he blew his diff up!
ya i know you are right. I am going to buy a used y1 though. but after I am going to rebuild my broken or nearly broken s1 but use type r gearing.
ya 1000 for a completely rebuilt tranny with lsd...that is not ur joe shmoe price.
lucky bastard!
