Default questions about b18c1 obd2 into a 95 del sol S...

i have a 1995 del sol S non-VTEC.. and one of my friends has a gsr motor he wants to sell to me. but its a 1998?? so im guess that an obd2. its either 1998 or higher... but its obd2 for sure... anyway... what things would i have to do to make this motor work... i heard that i would HAVE to get an obd1 motor and obd1 ecu.. and i would have to get a wiring harness from an obd1 and get a conversion kit... i would like to know what i need t get before i buy the motor off of him... thanks in advance..

just get an obd2-obd1 conversion kit for like $75, and find an obd1 P72 ECU.

just get the obd2 gsr harness and get a chipped p28 ecu from kenji and your set.

when i put an obd2 ls motor in my eg hatch, i just used an obd2 ls wiring harness and an obd1 ls ecu.

you want a p72 NOT a p28 for a GSR

no, you don't need an obd1 wiring harness, all you need is to convert the distributor from obd2 to obd1, and an obd1 ecu. everything else will work fine

Misiinformation runs rampant in these here parts!

Here's what you do.

1. KEEP THE INTEGRA ENGINE HARNESS!!!

Disregard anything anyone says about the engine being OBD2 and how it won't work - they don't know what they're talking about.

2. Buy a 1994-1995 Integra GS-R P72 ECU.

The ECU defines whether the engine is OBD1 or OBD2, etc. All you need to do is get an OBD1 P72 ECU and it will make the once OBD2 engine OBD1 regardless of what anyone says.

You simply plug the ECU into the car and then you'll need to wire up the secondary butterfly wires, the knock sensor, and possibly VTEC (depending on what Del Sol you have) from the shock tower plugs on the Del Sol's body harness, through the firewall and into the ECU pins.

Do you need to know what the pin locations are? Here they are:

Lastly if you cannot get the engine harness there are things that you can modify in order to make the Del Sol engine harness work with the Integra engine even though it's "OBD2" and some of the plugs won't match the OBD1 harness.

I won't get into that until you tell me you cannot get the OBD2 harness from the Integra though.

i'm using a kenji p28 chipped ecu on my gsr motor in my eg hatch and my friend is using one with his itr swap in his eg hatch. no problems here. i have a skunk2 manifold also, so using a p28 is better than using the p72 from my understanding.
