Default car wont start 1989 crx hf with d16a6 was running today no power what so ever help!

I was driving car and i noticed my volt gauge was dropping like maybe batter wasnt holding a charge if i reved it the car would say i had 13 volts - 14 volts now it just start dropping and dropping....i got it home. I changed batter and now it wont start. I'm thinking maybe main relay? Need to know what to check. I'm getting no power at any of the fuses inside the car but all the ones in engine bay show power. I'm getting nothing when i turn to key. It doesnt even light up guages. Help me with suggestions please

possible main relay but it sounds more like an alternator.

so with the key on engine off. none of the light on ur cluster shows. i wouldnt check the main replay cuz the main point of that replay is to control the injectors. from my pass experience and with ur discription. IT HAD TO BE THE IGNITION FUSE. im guessing ur starter solenoid doesnt engage either. and when ur engine is running battery voltage should be at least 13.4 and up if not then ur alternator is not doing its job. might just be a simple problem, the alternator output wire (usually thick white wire)

k so its the alternator? I have an extra but i thought if the alternator wasnt working i should still get power at the key in on position?

if the alt. died then the car was running on the batt. only so it would be fully drained. and yes normally when the main relay goes you still have electrical power. the check engine light should at least come on.

i tried changing main relay that didnt work. I put a new batter in car so i should at least get power when i turn key....my gauge is showing new batter at 12.5 volts so im guessing something else is wrong. Im going to go ahead and put my hf alternator on car and see if that will work. I'm really at a lost at what is wrong though.

k i went out to start pulling alternator off and i unpluged the power on the battery. For giggles i waited a second and pluged it back in. All the power in the car came back on. When i went to turn key i lost power to everything again. I went out and unpluged power to batter plugged it back in and all the power came back. WTF is going on? I'm wondering if it is the alternator or the starter now?

i've got an 87 crx that done the the same thing mine was what they call a fuse box that was located near the battery it was more like a thin piece of metal it went and so did my dash lights engine light and everything else...it acted like a car without a battery in it

hehe im an idiot the negative connection was jumping off batter....not tight enough. I tighted it a little more and bam it starts up good. On another note the alternator was bad and i put my hf alternator on my si engine and things are good for sunday. So I'll tell you want it runs when i get to delaware raceway.
