Default valve tap (do i need diffrent valve springs and retainers)

i recently put my h23 all back together and it has been running great, i installed cams when i did my headwork and i kept my stock springs and retainers becuase the the cam company said they were fine, now i have a loud tap and i have adjusted the valve lash and the car runs perfectly is powerful etc... should i leave it alone or buy new stuff

hwat oil are you using? try to use something thicker...im sure stp makes a valve tap reduction oil or something ...might want to try that....don't forget that now with the new cams the valves closer harder because they open more and springs compressor more and then release the tension harder...

what kind of cams are you running, sometimes it takes multiple valave lash adjustments until you get them all absolutly dead on,

Upgraded cams including both regrinds and cams ground from billet blanks usually cause the valvetrain to be louder...No way to avoid it, it's just a fact of life with aggressive cams...

If the cams are ground from billets then usually the stock lash or close to it is acceptable... but regrinds require tighter lash...

Either way I'd suggest calling the company who you got the cams from and ask what their reccomended valve lash setting is...

Who did the cams BTW...

Did you check Piston to valve clearance? If you have adjustable cam gears with aftermarket cams and the cam gears aren't at 0 deg, the sound you're hearing could be the valve hitting the piston...

they are (bullfrog) gude cams, he told me that i didnt need to run aftermarket springs and retainers with them and i cant see any reason why i would have to other then that loud *** drive train but if you guys say its normal for the regrinds to be loud then ok i guess i dont have to worry about it.

And someone asked if i did multiple valve lash adjustments yeah i did 4 of them
