what would i run in??
i have a 91 hf that i've been auto x'ing in SCCA Solo II now for just under 2 years. recently, the chapter i belong to has changed some rules/guidelines, and now are telling me that i will run in CSP?!?!
MODS:
AEM CAI
2.25 cat-back Thermal exhaust
H & R pro race springs
KYB AGX 4pt adj shocks
it doesn't seem right to me to run in street prepared...i'm not prepared! i have a whole 75hp give or take! they told me i am in this class now b/c i have a 2-seater? is this correct?
any info is appreciated!

hey kelly (this is the kid with the '93 red si hatch)
the stuff that takes you out of stock and puts you into something else are the intake and springs. you cant run STS because no 2 seaters are allowed, although there is supposedly a new class called sts2 or st2 which allows sts-type mods for 2 seaters.
so, you can either run SM2 (not recommended), CSP (also not recommended), or STS2. CCSCC (the club that does most of the events at rantoul) is not yet familiar with the STS2 class, so you may end up just getting thrown into STS anyways

Don't mean to hijack but its at least on topic....
I've been itching to get involved in autox so what class would I run in with these mods...
-Engine Swap
-IHE
-Few suspension mods (Springs, struts, bushings)
-Rear Disc Conversion (BB, MC, PV, SS Lines)
-Relocated Batt. (trunk)
Should I just find a stock car to start with so I don't get my butt stomped by the more experienced more powerful set ups?

Assuming this is a CRX you are talking about, you would be in SM2, facing modified Z06s, turbo Miatas, supercharged MR2s, etc. You'd definitely get blown away, but its worth driving what you've got to at least get the hang of autocross. Once you figure out what you want to do you could sell the car and buy one thats more appropriate for Stock or STS, or whatever your intention would be.

CRX GRL No putting the back seat in the CRX does not help. SCCA Classes cars from US market trim, which the back seat was not.
I say you tell them you are running STS2.
BTW my first 2 years of autocross i also ran an HF, but in Stock class. (ES) To help my car be competitive i did this: Retired it from autocross and bought an Si. The HF is a good learning tool, but unless you are going to run a class with a swap, its a poor platform because of its lack of HP.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. It's an EJ1 (95 Civic Coupe) with a JDM H22 swap.

Rear seats are not allowed to be removed in CSP. Only SM, Prepared, and Mod classes allow it.

Kind of like what you did... engine swap, etc. If you're new, don't worry about being competitive. If someone else shows up in your class, he/she will either be in the same boat as you, or you'll get your butt handed to you by someone "serious"... as in seriously diseased with the autocross bug.
The best thing for anyone new to autocrossing is just go out have fun and get some seat time. I highly recommend riding along with an instructor.

Don't the rules say that all IT racecars are in CSP? Well ITE is an IT class!

Sort of. Cars listed in the Street Prepared index may run in IT trim if they are listed in the IT class (ITS Teg would run DSP, ITA CRX would run CSP, etc). They have to run in IT trim, no rule swapping between IT and SP. ITE is not a nationally recognized class, so it is not legal to run an ITE car in the corresponding SP class.

Most will hold a Novice school and i would recommend that you attend at least one..
Also several down here will have a practice day which you pay a flat fee and run all day. A good tire waster day...
Not to worry my wife hands me my butt on most days..
I can build them but she can drive them..
