Intake cam getting stuck!
I just reassembeled a B16 and the intake cam is turning but then is getting stuck and then wont turn at all. The exhaust cam seems to be alright. Btw its a B16 with ITR pistons.

You really shouldn't be rotating the cams without the timing belt attached and properly timed. You could get (and most likely are, by what you're describing) valve-to-piston contact, which is obviously not good.

Decided to bring back this rather than start a new topic to crowd the boards..
Question: What could cause the intake cam to seize up completely, and the exhaust cam and everything else be unaffected? (note: distributed has been removed and spins freely, so that's not it)
Situation: Just finished doing a compression upgrade on my B16A, with a thinner HG and flat faced valves, along w/skunk2 springs/ti retainers. After some minor work we got her back up and running and sounding smooth as can be! Let it warm to operating temp, changed the oil and filter. Did it again, changed the oil and filter (to make sure i didn't any garbage in there from all my work). Finally we take it for a test drive. Was driving perfectly as it had before the work, I was going super easy on it. All of a sudden, it goes quiet, nothing horrendous, no noises whatsoever, it just quietly stalls. Tried to restart, and get a clicking noise from teh driver side of the engine. Remove the valve cover, turns out the intake cam is frozen and the belt is forcing its way over it, making a clicking noise as each tooth is forced past. Distributor has been taken off and that is not the problem.
Tomorrow morning I'm taking the timing belt off and checking everything. I'm worried about bent valves, but I think I would've heard some bad s$#}*$% if that was the case, but this was pretty gentle-ish... so i'd love to hear ANY ideas..
Cams are stock BTW

sounds like you torqued it incorrectly and didnt use any assembly lube when assembling the motor together. once done, prime the motor and make sure oil gets everywhere in the engine so you dont atart it up dry
I did both, maybe I didn't use enough lube though on the cams and rocker arms, do you have to completely douse them w/engine assembly lube or just give them a good coating? i guess Tomorrow I'll take apart everything down to the rocker arms and do it again.

you sure its not the dizzy getting misplacet because same thing happen to me took of my head to replace head gasket i assempled it back and my intake cam would spin for about 2 inches then it would just stuck it was my dizzy that was installed incorrectly.. so i would suggest taking of the dizzy and try and spin the cam alone no timing belt or nothing.. if its not that than a valve might of hit a piston but i dont think thats possible if you put in timing correctly? when you take it apart again check your timing to see if it jumped tooths?
