NA S2000 - 13.2 1/4mi... Is it possible?
Just wanted to ask you guys a question...
There is a gentleman on a local board here in Birmingham, AL (www.bhamracing.net) who has an S2000 with the following setup:
Spoon N1 Exhaust
AEM CAI V1
Gutted Cat
J's Racing 4.77 Gears
200 lbs. Shaved
He is claiming 13.1's to 13.2's @ 105MPH in the 1/4 with over 200 RWHP. Is this possible? Thanks!

He claims street tires.. When you say when an AEM yes, are you talking about an AEM intake or an AEM EMS?

Really? I would think that 200 lbs off an S2000 and slight mods with an excellent driver would be able to hit those considering people have achieved 13.8 bone stock. But you would know more than I.

With only 200 lbs of weight reduction, and ~200 RWHP I don't think he can do it.
I think you'd need at least 225-240 rwhp to do it.

Your talking taking over a full second off the car. I believe over 200 rwhp. depending in the dyno, 200-205 is average for my02 and up, even without bolt-ons.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Well that's good for me. I only need to shave off .5 of a second.
Yes, I find it very possible.

aem EMS, the intake in junk ... stock or spoon filter or ITBs are the only things that'll make power ...

I think they got nervous when I hit a 14.1 on Honda Day. hahaha.
That's why I go to Atco, they are much more lenient.

it may be possible, but you don't see a majority of s2k 1/4 times at 13.8. Hence, I said it would be hard to hit a 13.2 consistantly

the 4.77 final drive is likely to force an additional shift depending on overall tire diameter

I would believe that if an S had around 225-230rwhp, some weight reduction, the 4.77 gears and a perfect launch, low 13's are possible in ideal conditions. I agree that doing that consistantly would be very difficult, not only the abuse on the drivetrain.
I've seen standard NSX type-s' do 1/4's in 12.7. They weight 1320kg's and have 40bhp more than the S2K. Granted, they are mid engined, so they have almost 4wd levels of traction from the line, but even so, 285/1.32 = 215bhp/ton and an S2K with 100kg's knocked off will have 240/1.14 = 210bhp/ton. Possible? Yeah, I reckon so.
