Side Exit Exhaust
Please forgive me for re-hashing an old topic. My car is currently undergoing bodywork and I wanted to present this idea for opinions on the matter.
Pictures below is the concept Mustang GT-R:

I was thinking about doing this, but on a smaller scale obviously. Perhaps a 2.50" application. My idea would be to modify a set of Buddy Club 2 side skirts for the application. I would use the same metal framing as the concept pictured above, except no quite as large as my exhaust application would no doubt be much smaller. The main differance being it would appear the concept picture has the exhaust actually exiting from chassis itself while mine would exit from the side skirt area.
I havent had a chance to jack the car up and look underneath and I wanted to see if anyone had any previous experience until I get a chance to take a gander myself sometime this week.
Does our chassis allow for a system like this to be in place? Or perhaps there are components on the bottom of the car that would block this sort of application?
Here is a very CRUDE paintshop idea...

I understand some people might want to flame me for my idea, so have at it if you honestly feel it nessasary.
My car is half show and going to be half go, so I understand this application is 100% not the best shape/size for optimal performance.
Thank you for your time and any information you can give to help me.

I personally wouldn't go with that setup at all. I am not going to flame you either, I am sure someone else will.

I have no doubt of this, but as a general rule of thumb, if you dig through enough ****, you are bound to find a gem.

Those are actually old picture of my car. Here is my car currently:

Well, sort of, its being prepped right now in my garage for a new coat of New Formula Red (nsx color). Im just juggling a few ideas while its in the "before paint" stage.

I can get the setup done for about $350-400 dollars. Like someone said before Im just trying to look into inovative ideas. Its very hard to be unique and not fall into the rice pit of stickers, giant wings, and gawdy bodykits.
Im thinking about just converting this car into my show car and buying a used 91-93 NSX as my weekend performance car.

Innovative... maybe.
Utilization of a dual side setup on a 4 cylinder...well that falls into the ricer category.
Unless you're exhausting out from 500+ whp, I just don't see a side setup to be functional and look nice. The carbon buildup will just mess with your paint. And you mentioned it being a show car as well.
Although it is your car, and it seems like money isn't really a problem. You can try to be a trend setter as this is honda-tech.

ayo DGibb... i say go for it bro.. and i say that because, you see dc's everywhere, everyone looks the same.. all same size wheels.. all got lips.. all lowered. all tinted windows.. wings or wingless.. same ol ****.. be the new kid on the block and do something new. i mean i got a DA teg, and i dont see that many of them in good condition anymore. or anyone sportin them.. they like all this curvy body style.. take it back old school.. rock some different ****.. dont be like everyone else.
how many people have that side exhaust on a teg.. or any honda/acura produced car besides the ones showin on the pics above? not that many..

While I dont ever expect to put out that much horsepower it will be a turbo LS by this end of the year. Though I am going for much more modest numbers.
Im not trying to front anything, Im being honest when the car is half show, half go, Im just trying to think up new ideas without having to go the traditional route of pure show.
I was even thinking how nice it would look if I wrapped the metal exterior piece (square peice) in a carbon fiber material, instead of polished.
Edit: Also I dont see the exhaust running over the side any worse than it rising and rolling over the rear bumper/back of hatch.

how? why? my teg had dual outlets on a single exhaust.. why does dual tips have to be ricer? have you stopped to think it could be a muffler, with a Y splitter off to 2 short pipes? not 2 seperate pipes from the header back?

Oh, it would definatly be a single cat back that simply exits by two pipes.
Edit: Arent the piping out the front bumper dealing with the turbos wastegates?

Well yes, show, but still daily driven. Im not going out with a bomb diggity fiberglass interior or anything.
As a matter of fact my interior is pretty much staying stock with the excepton of some upgraded seats. Maybe a new shift **** and some white gauges.
I take pride in trying to keep my ride clean. Thats how I get attention in my town atleast. My town has other Integras, but most of them are heavily riced out.
Im struggling to do some new ideas, but still keep the exterior smooth and clean.
Edit: On a lighter note, thank god I dont have that 5 post a day rule clinging to me anymore! Ya!

DGibb, ill give you my supporting input.
Say you do go turbo. It's totally doable...you can still maintain an effective yet 'innovative' exhaust setup starting from the "3 inch" downpipe or 2.5" you should look into.
So it would go like this and mate to:
Aftermarket cat 3" or 2.5", then a 2.5 inch extension pipe that will mate to a Y pipe into 2 2" individual side exhausts, one for each side. Unless you want it only on one side then stay either 3" or 2.5" piping all the way. It would look nice either way. But don't expect flames from a moderate turbo setup.
