Default brake pads?

I have a 90 REX with a B16a and am doing the brakes. I bought Brembo slotted rotors, and goodridge brake lines but I am having a problem with what kind of pads to get? should i go metallic, semi, composite or what? I hoped that someone has some info because i don't want to burn up the new rotors with crappy pads I am not brand particular so if you have any info please help

i believe that slotted rotors operate at a "slightly" higher temperature than blanks...so you may be able to get away with an aftermarket race pad. but i would just go with a good OE pad, something that will stay in the correct operating temperature range for street driving.

but if this isnt a street application, then forget what i said.

For a street car, I would recommend the Axxis Metal Masters, but if you see track time at all the Axxis Ultimates are good to have handy.

Porterfield R4-S...they're a kevlar compound for high performance street/autox.
Very rotor friendly but perform better then most metallics, last longer and dust less. Excellent anti fade and modulation. Used to be around $90 for the front set...which is steep but they'll last 2-3 times longer then the regular pads.

and i was unimpressed with axxis metalmasters which are unfortunately on my car now.

Yeah the Porterfield streey compound pads are nice. I also like the Hawk street pads and EBC Green stuff have been great for me too, as well as the AEM/Nissin pads.

Yeah, I heard that EBC's Green stuff won a whole bunch of awards all over Europe for most inovative new automotive invention. I don't remember where I saw that, on some web site somewhere a while ago. Just curious, because I've heard alot of good things about them. And the Red stuff.

I don't know what the problem is? I'm one of those guys who goes from autocross to drag to street and back again and i've never had a problem. But, right now I'm rockin' the AEM/Nissin's and I love them. Especially for those with light colored wheels. They are a light grey composite so basically you don't have to deal with shitty brake dust build up anymore.
