was going bout 60mph driving was about to switch to fifth gear thought i went in fifth but it didnt and missed fifth gear.....now when im driving from second thru fifth...at about 3k to 5k rpms it hesitates starts to jump...need help..dont know wat to look for

 

need more info what motor? what car?

 

Are you throwing any codes? Maybe somethin simple as your rotor in your distributor cap. The screw that holds the rotor on has been known to loosen up, beleive me I know.

 

The contacts on the ignitor might be dirty/loose or the ignitor itself could be bad..

 

I think the guys above are right, the igniter is known to go, I just had to replace it on my sis accord the other day, a quick fix was to just replace the igniter, it just went out and engine would not start, most cases it misses first I think, on my stock crx hf it is throwin a code 8 which is the dist. in 3rd gear at like 2k rpm dies down a lil like its missin and then catches up double time. Most likely the easy way and better way if it is the problem is to just buy a rebuilt dist. from schucks etc. $150 or so...

 

its 89crx lsvtec obd0....no codes...pretty much new dizzy...like three months old...but usually does not mess up during 1st gear...but the other gears forget about it

 

I have a similar problem... it hesitates and kinda boggs then jumps back to normal and goes back and forth. It only does this when it rains though. It has pissed me off for a while.
