CRX bogging below 3,500 rpm after 1 min of drving untill warm.
I have a b16a1 CRX Si na, stock basically.
When I get in my car, and start her up and begin to drive the car is fine for about a full minute. Then the car will begin to bog when accelerating from a stop while under 3,500 rpm approximately. After driving for about 10 minutes and/or where the car would be getting fully warm the bogging goes away.
What I mean by bog is that it sounds like its running rich, I can still accelerate, and the motor runs but with roughly 50% power loss and a change in motor exhaust note. When 3,500rpm comes around and the bogging subsides untill next gear going below it, its a sudden rush of power back to normal operation.
I tried replacing my distributor with a new one because its bearing had been going out and grinding anyways. Also,i was finding metal and plastic shavings inside that I couldn't figure out where they were coming from. The rotor was fine, the cap was fine, the coil was fine etc. Unfortunately, this did not cure my problem of bogging at lower rpm before driving for 10 mins.
Does it sound to you like im running too rich? Sometimes when it is bogging I can smell my exhaust, its like a chemical stink is the best way I can describe the smell. I am not burning oil or coolant.
What would you recommend is the possible cause of this "bogging" and why would the car be fine for a minute after start up while cold, then bog below 3500 rpm untill hot, whereupon the problem goes away.
Would it possibly be the injectors, fuel pump, resistor box, fpr? At least I know my dizzy and fuel filter are not the cause since they're a brand new now.
Also, i checked the ecu by changing it out with a known good unit, and i still had the problem.
The bogging occurs in all gears at ANY throttle position under roughly 3,500 rpm. The bogging will also cut in and out at points usually in higher gears, causing the car to lurch slightly back and forth.
The only non stock fuel piece I have is a V-AFC, but it has not been used yet, its just sitting in its correct start up state to be able to turn key and drive....its not the V-AFC because I have had it forever like it is now, and the problem just recently started happening, no settings have been fiddled with plus I initialized it and reset it just for ***** and giggles.
You guys think maybe its a bad coolant temp sensor?
Im just tryign to figure out why this problem is so predictable in such a wierd fashion...:
Car is cold...runs good for 60 seconds till i leave my neighborhood.
Car then proceeds to bog while accelerating under 3,500 rpm.
Car stops bogging druing exceleration under 3500rpm after 10 minutes.

Actually.. The best method is to let it idle 30 seconds, then drive it easily until fully warmed up. Oil doesn't circulate as well when you just let it sit and idle.
Anyways.. to the OP, check dizzy and iacv.
