Default How to get your T1R exhaust to hang higher?

I was just wondering if you guys with T1R exhausts or similar aftermarket exhausts to hang higher?

Just got my exhaust Thursday (I thank Mike and all the Fabulous people at IPS racing for all the hard work and problems getting me this exhaust even though the wait was long, Mike did everything to make it right and to make me a happy customer IPS Mike )

Ok, well only thing now when I installed the exhaust it seems to sit too low, I had to use the lower hooks, the original hooks make the exhaust too high and touched the bumper.

I am thinking to use shorter rubber hangers off a different model car, but I don't know... so please if you guys know, please share your input.

Thanks!

Im working on the same problem...I had it hanging on the lower hooks on my gs-r originally and the piping was so huge in diameter that it rattled aginst the lca.

Then I moved it to the higher hooks just a few weeks ago and it sat about a cm from the bottom of the bumper and cleared the lca. 2 days later I drove 750 miles and it melted a tiny hole in the underside of the exhaust cutout in the bumper (not visible at all from behind). Just today I drove 650 miles to NoVA and back and the hole got a tad bigger.

I was just thinking about using different hangars while driving home... I also have one idea about a retrofit, but I need to take a look at the bushings and such first to see if it will fit.

Im going to work on this tomorrow, ill let you know if I figure something out too...

A pic would be a good reference.

Mine never had any problems fitting.

Its apparently more of a problem with 98+ bodywork.

Take a look at this from AJR...98+ is def. the difference here the two of us, as compared to your pics...

Theirs looks like really tight fitting, but who knows how it is really mounted when it isnt picture time, cause mine doesnt even look as tight as that, and it burns the plastic...

Pic of mine for reference on a 98+ bumper, I'm using the same holes in the hanger that I used w/ my stock exhaust. Maybe just jerk around on yours until it's not touching.

Mine is close but no touching/melting.

Edit: If I remember correctly 92TypeR has one of the earlier versions of the T1R that could explain why his fits differently

Thanks for the pic for reference chris. Mine seems to be sitting about that exact same position...it could just be the freakin long drives that is doing it to me...

I tried putting heat wrap against the burnt part of the bumper before it ever burnt, but it didnt stick so I said forget it. Maybe the wrong choice...

Ill try to get pics up tomorrow.

I dunno, I've driven mine to Charlotte and back (4 hours each way) w/o any problems yet.

< Hoping his bumper doesn't make a liar out of him

Let me look and see if I've got a pic from the back of the car...

Best back of the caR pic I could find (well I only halfway looked ):

Ok, here is what I did today, I went over to my neighborhood Honda dealership, my friend Kenny hooked me up and got me some civic or del sol Hangers which were shorter, than the stock integra ones and I put them on the lower hooks and it does make a difference it is does sit higher than how I had it before with the original rubber hangers on the lower hooks.

I'll try to take a pic tomorrow so you guys can see. it is night here, so no sense trying.

Yes I have one from the very first batch that appearantly had all the fitting issues. I guess I lucked out.

i got my jic catback to sit higher by heating up the hangers until they were red hot then bending them a little...i also used shorter stiffer polyurethane exhaust hangers they helped alot in movement during driving
