1998 Honda Accord suggestions
I just picked up my 6th gen Accord and I'm in love with it. I was curious what your first engine/body mod would be? The car feels like a blank canvas in so many respects. The only thing I care about is the gas mileage. I want to keep it where it's at, or improve upon it.

I also want to keep the car from looking tacky. I dont want to be one of those guys that are "all show and no go".
So where would you start?
EDIT: whoops. 6th gen.

ummm buddy its a 6th gen...anywho in order for you to "get more performance" regardless your gonna lose gas mileage and as for parts it all depends on you on what you wanna do...FI...NA..SPRAY...if i was you if you wanna save your gas mileage..DO NOT MOD THAT CAR...but if you dont really care...h22a swap with turbo BUT to me it just be a waste of time and money due to the fact that the accords are heavy as hell well 6th gens...i say just go for show
you can mod without loosing gas miliage...start with the simple intake/header/exhaust combination...i have those mods and my gas milage has infact improved
are you sure?...i thought that the more mods you do the more gas mileage it loses?..because when i had modded a 95 eclipse with just the basic bolt-ons i lost gas mileage dramaticly....and the same when i had a 97 teggie
Do small mods like intake/headers/exhaust. Your car will feel alot quicker. Then slap some 18 inch rims one there with a 1.5 drop, some tint, and a nice system. Your car will be set.
put some 18's on there, and you'll lose whatever performance you might have gained from the i/h/e and then some. my suggestions (i have a 99 that's identical to yours) are i/h/e and suspension work. body wise, i'd leave it alone, except for maybe some lightweight 17's. besides the fact that a lot of companies have a hard time matching that paint color (heather mist), there are no good looking body kits, IMO.

besides that, it all depends on what your goals are with the car.

when i first started modding my car i lost some gas mileage, but that was because it just sounded so damn good in those high revs...as long as you can control your right foot, i/h/e should improve your mileage

For god's sake don't listen to them.
1) After my intake and exhaust i got a NOTICABLE increase in mpg. They are basic mods that improve your performance and make it a better handling car.
2) After that, drop it, and with the drop, get a strut bar. I was amazed at how much an improvement it made in handling. It's like a new car for a 6th gen sedan, damned boat. I have a 2000 accord se, so we gotta stick together
3) do NOT get 18" rims. You feel like youre riding on bare metal, youre going to lose performance, and it makes a damn good target for someone to steal if you have the bling. Go for subtle, stock size preferred or 17" at the biggest, that way you won't lose your performance. go for lightweight rather than bling.
You'll be a lot happier with intake, exhaust, drop & strut bar, and lightweight rims than you would be with any of that stuff. You'd be losing gas milage trying to lug that chrome around on those 18's...

18s are not too big, but do the basic i/h/e, and as long as you dont romp around at wot you should notice a lil diff in gas mileage. lower it the right way and keep those stockers for now. clean car
thanks for all the suggestions. I think i'll get springs for the 1.5 drop and the strut bars. This seems like the cheapest mod. I've consulted the Basic Accord thread about parts and such, but it doesnt mention rims. Do you all have a suggestion on which rims to look for? I like the alloy look, so I wont be putting chrome on it. ill post an update in here once I get a list of the suspension parts setup.
as far as rims go, its all personal preference. rims taht we like, you may not like, and rims that you like, we may not like. you need to choose rims that YOU like because you are the one that's going to be looking at them everyday, not US.
i hate when people ask what rims they should get. its up to you. its sort a big investment, and your asking other people what you should spend your money on, when we aren't the ones that have to look at them every day.
just my .02 cents.

careful here, the car in the picture has a V6. That means his wheels are 5 lugs. Your car is a 4 cyl, and your wheels either need to be 4 luggers, or you need to find a way convert your car. Otherwise, you may buy and just be stuck.
