Default New guy here and to honda.

Hello everyone, new to honda but not new to racing/tuning. I have plans of going all motor and was wondering if the H22a was good for that. I have a 93 black integra and was wondering what would be the best motor for what im headed too. I do like turbocharging but i want something more geared to daily driving and reliability. Its a LS and i thinks it a 1.8 engine non-vtec. Any help would be appreciated thanx.

H22 is a nice motor. They are less expensive than the less powerful b-series motors and have more torque.

H22a would make a decent choice for daily driving, while for racing, in the Integra Chassis, I would steer away from it.

Also, depending on your budget, the B18C1 and B18C5 would also prove to be advantageous to you. While the B18C5 produces the same amount of HP as the H22a, it is lighter, and more adaptable to the DC chassis for any application.

Also, as a side not, forced induction can be daily driven and reliable. When put against a tuned serious N/A build, a tuned FI engine will probably be more reliable in the long run. But there are too many variables to make that assumption.

Good luck to you...you have a lot of research to do. Welcome to the Honda world!

H22a > B18C5

Lets see, you spend 5 grand on a ITR motor or 2 grand on an H22. Save the left over money and buy a sweet suspension setup to compensate for the extra weight. You have the same amount of hp and you have more torque. Boost does wonders on an h22.

And IMO: Use the c1, there are a bazillion out there from punkass kids that crashed their gsrs, there's TONS of support for em, and they're damn near bombproof.

Just for an idea of why I'D steer away from the h22 in a DA chassis....

And here's another link of why i'd steer away from the h22 swap...(might have to read a few pages back, basically the only mount kit doesn't fit. At all.)

^^^ I agree, keep integra engines in the integras, putting an H22 in will be that much more difficult than a type-r and not worth it.

If you look at the facts and don't go by what uneducated people tell you then you will see that an H22 is better in terms of power and costs.

i effin know that it's better in power and cost, did i say it wasn't? i said it's more trouble, as in it's not exactly the easiest swap to do.. for you

Thanx everyone for your support and all. But a friend of mine is telling me to keep the block and use a type R head? I like the idea and it is much cheaper, but since the consensus is the H22a is a no-no then i might go with it to be somewhat different. Im not much of a racer although i go to UTI here and that might sound like a oxymoron. Anyways i live in northern Houston near Spring, Texas. I also found a better example of my integra in blue and am currently doing a trade. Once again thanx everyone, hope the honda world is not as bad as the volkswagen world.

Oh yeah my last car was a jetta VR6 so i know whats it like to have nose heavy car and i really dont think having a H22a would be that much more heavy. Unless the chasis has some weak spots that i need to know about, cheers.

Do some research and talk to people that actually have h22's in their civics and integra's. Everyone that I talk to that has one says they are totally happy with it.
