89 crx HF
engine swapped in....SOHC ZC
going from crappy 8 valve 1.5 liter 62 horsepower engine to 16 valve 1.6 liter engine with 100+ horsepower
BUT WAIT....there's more!
Because california sucks *** I can't use the jdm intake manifold becuse it doesn't have an EGR valve..so now we have the stock HF intake manifold AND HF injectors which I've heard are smaller than normal honda injectors......and were not done folks....if you call now in the next 10 minutes you also get......the STOCK hf ECU...ohh yeah now aint that a deal
but if you call within the next 5 MINUTES! this ofer gets even better....not only do you get all that is mention here but you can also get the stock hf tranny with it's tall *** gears and again thanks to california we have 2 that's right 2 cataltic converts so we are using the stock hf exhaust manifold as well woo hoo
so yeah just how badly you guys think this enigne will run? I'm thinkin less than the 8 valve 1.5 liter 62 horsepower enign it did have.
Hopefulyl within a week or 2 I'll have at the least a pm6 ecu...then I'll look for an si intake manifold.
umm is there any CHEAP and I mean CHEAP things I can do withou tearing the enigne apart to to get it up to it's at least stock performance.
I haven't decided if I should mess with this enigne or keep it as a beater and go with some other d-series (wanna stay d-series for easier swaping and eventual passing cali ref someday)

sorry for the infomerical talk....it's like 4 in the morning and I'm watching the TV guide channel because there looks to be nothing better on TV and they have some infmerical on and yeah it's just sorta taking over my mind LOL
it goes like this...
takes off..... raps that massive power out to 5500 rpm rev limit, slams it into 2nd, rpms drop to 1500....revs it up to 3000 rpm. WOAH! STOP! you're already going 65MPH!

I am going to get the pm6 ecu but this is the car for a little while.
for about like 2 weeks it's gotta rn like this.
i do want the si intake mani though so I gotta start looking for that....stupid california
umm yeah not sure about exhaust...since I have two cats if i went the extra mile and actually went with intake header and exaust would I need to also have still 2 cats again?

I have the same engine in my eg. and when i bought it it still had the 8 valve crap. i just changed the intake and exhaust manifold, the fuel rail and injectors over to the si and what a difference. But to answer your question. I have a cx tranny with the tall gears still and im looking for a nice dx tranny. I even have a clutchmaster stage 1 clutch in mine, and it ran like azz before i changed the manifolds etc. the tranny will really screw ya. Look out for the 24second 1/8 mile time slips

yea my first thing will be getting the si ecu and then I'll get the si intake manifold that should at the least help out greatly.
then i was thinking of some sort of intake and maybe even going all out and getting a header and exhaust....since I plan to stay d-series everything should just bolt right up no problems.
though I'm just wondering what the regulation are for getting a header for this car since it appears to have 2 catalytic converts on it. if I put the header on I think it would only be able to fit 1 cat, and i heard somewhere that your not aloud to move the location of the cat on a california car.
ohh yea since this is considered an engine change I'm going to eventually have to get this car into see a ref, so anything I do needs to be california legal......damn california

you might want to do some more research on the california DMV site. I think it might be a little simpler since you're putting in the equivilent of an Si engine. something along the lines of its legal since it was originally offered in that make and year of car. I think it may also mean that you can switch over to the equivilent of an Si exhaust setup with only one cat.
I've been going through all the bullshit to get my B18A Bar certified. I just got the last peice, should be legal by the end of the week.

why are you using an hf intake mani, since the sohc zc is a replacement motor for crxs and is going into your crx you are no longer required to have an egr valve, you should only be required to have an egr valve if you are running the hf motor, why dont you just use the jdm manifold untill you get the usdm manifold and get it smogged then, because in reality a smog shop shouldnt smog it with the hf manifold on a si motor anyways

NO....
just run an SI cat...
you'll have to take it to an exhaust shop for sure, get all that piping done....
or if you buy an aftermarket exhaust, get one for the SI.... and get an SI cat, and they'll all bolt up with a DC header.

ok so just set everything up like a crx si? that shouldn't be any problem.
umm this is going to probably be a stupid guestion but I'm going to ask.
Looking at an crx intake manifold on ebay, the seller says it comes with everything but the IAC sensor.....the hf iac sensor should hook up to it right?
and if not how much we lookin at?

this is the intake manifold I was lookin at.

whelp everyone finally got the car back with the new ZC engine and all the old HF stuff.
I don't know if it's just me or what but the car doesn't feel fast but it seems to be reaching speeds faster than before....I think I'm just imaingng stuff and going insane.
defiently has no low end power I need to rev it up to like 3,000 rpm and slowly let the clutch out in fear of staling. But it does seem to have power in the upper rpm range like 2500 and up LOL.
Anyways I wondering when do i shift with this thing? Also which redline should I worry about?
should I shift like the hf at around 2500 rpm or should I shift at a different time for better mileage?
Also should I still worry about the hf redline since it still has all the other hf parts including the tranny?
Or should i just worry about the engines redline? and what is that?
I've never hit the rev limiter in the hf never sent it into the red zone at all. So i don't even know if it has a rev limiter LOL.
been thinkin, yeah yeah I know that's a bad thing, but anyways I've heard pretty much al d-series parts are interchangeable.
So wouldn't it be even better to get a d16y8 intake manifold, since I hear they flow best out of the d-series manifolds instead of just a plain si manifold?
are aftermarket intake manifolds worth the crazy costs?
