BTCC Accord in New Zealand
A lucky New Zealander recently took ownership of a genuine ex BTCC (british touring car championship) accord. It came into the country a little rough, but the new owner fixed it up to it original form and entered it into the 'race car' section of a car show in Auckland. enjoy.

Holy hell look how far back that engine is mounted.
H22 de-stroked to 2.0L, putting out around 300hp N/A.
I wonder if he drives it on the street?? I'm kinda surprised the previous race team owner sold it to someone not affiliated w/ a race team. Actually I'm kinda surprised they even sold it at all, aren't retired race cars usually just dismantled or something?

Yea I remember an SCC issue from like '97 when they featured the Neuspeed Touring Car Accord. It had a reverse mounted H22 also. I believe the reason was that the intake manifold was removed and a ram-air like setup was created. Dunno either way pretty damn cool

Its not a street car at all, Only a circuit car
heres some pics the cars of a similar erra racing in the BTCC between 94-96 -

This is the pre-98 car, same shape as the featurd one.

This is the post-98 car, slightly different headlights.

They even made a replica toy of this car -

The carbon wing is worth $2500 USD, its got air jacks, sequential gearbox, 19 inch rims (all 16 that it came with).
for those of you who are wondering why they use such big rims? take a look at the brakes. The owner says the rims are only just big enough to fit
Also, for those who know jdm, you would realise its a Honda Ascot / Accord.

and some more pics, some of the pics are when it first arrived in the country -

and yes, that is a carbon dash, well, pretty much carbon everything. It was pretty original in 1994
And as for the rice comment, get a brain dude
I doubt there is a car on H-T, that could even get close to catching this thing around a circuit.

Heres an attempt at a bigger pic of the carbon interior, it may not work due to being linked off a NZ server

I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic. Hence the "

I heard a funny fact about the BTCC. They used those big *** wheels just so the cars/series would look good. Do you see any other series using the nasty big wheels and low pro tires? NOPE! Because they just plain suck!

Umm when you're running 14" or larger rotors and DUAL calipers in front, you pretty much have to go with big wheels.

Um, actually what he said is true, I read it in EVO the English mag and a few other family and friends confirmed it back in England. But you are correct as well.

As Slopoke pointed out, the "

High res pics would be appreciated
