for those of you who bought carbon fiber trunks, how much weight did you save?

I've got the VIS carbon fiber tailgate for my 5th gen hatch.
With both tailgates completely stripped down, there was only a 6lb difference .
What a waste of money.

Just wondering what the weight savings are for integras and coupes.

I coulda told you that, the real weight savings comes from switching to the FAL rear window. I wouldn't use it on the street though.

I personally think CF trunks look ghey.

Even with an fal window, I bet my $30 lightweight battery was better weight savings.

I can understand unpainted CF hoods on certain cars, but unpaintedhatch/trunk is plain yucky to me.

eeeeuuuu!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look how ugly my trunk is

I think it flows with the ugliness of my hood and lip

I am also getting a super ugly carbon fiber roof made so i can make like on big ugly stripe....

I would love to see the hater-techers cars....

My cf hatch sure did feel a lot lighter no more than 15 pounds though...but hey every bit helps...

I already have a lightweight battery and have done all weight saving i can do without the car looking like a hallow tin can

i think all the cars in the thread look all the much better because of the carbon ... to people who do their own thing ..

if paint weighs so much, why not sand the whole car down?

haha. . .I weighed my cf hood before paint. I'd bet that if I took it off and weighed it now, it wouldnt weigh a pound more.

Honda-tech is just a bunch of jdm showcar ricers. I bet people would rock unpainted cf doors if they were cheap enough.

haha thats what i laugh about.. people act like painting a CF hood "takes away the purpose" or "makes it pointless" .. i dont see how.. CF is just a material, not an excuse.. plus i think its pretty funny that carshows are littered with mismatching cars.. everywhere you look its a checkerboard.. and now people are ACTUALLY painting their roofs black.. so thats why i ask.. why make your car look silly with a mismatching hood when you could just get rid of all the paint altogether.. now it will still be ugly, but SO LIGHT! makes me want to smack subaru for painting my stock aluminum hood.
