Default Short-Shifter Installation

Hello, this is my first post here! I'm hoping you can help me out.

I'm putting a custom-fabricated short-shifter into my 2000 Honda Civic LX (D16Y7) and was hoping for some advice as I've never done such an install before.

I understand that I have to perform a good deal of this install from under the car, and was wondering if a simple jack were enough or if I'd need something more to lift the car. All of the installation pics I've seen have been on the hydraulic lifts found in mechanic's garages!

I do not have any instructions for installation due to having this piece custom-fabricated to my specifications, so any information on the installation would help greatly and be more than appreciated.

Thank you all in advance!

Rob

yeah intalling short shifter is a pain the *** at least on EG if the bolts that acutally hold the shifter in place are rusted in place. You will need to jack up the car as high as you can and do not do this without jackstands unless you wonna die or something. Take off the shiftlinkages there should be some bolts that hold the shifter assembly in place remove them. Also I think you need to remove your shiftnob and it all should pull out from the bottom. Then it's a good idea to place the shifter assembly into a vice and try to get those two damn bolts out. Then you can remove the shifter and put the new one in, installation is reverse.

This is of top of my head so don't say I said something wrong because I assume I did. I did it two month ago and I have a really bad memory for the stuff that I do on the fly. If you get down there you will figure out how to do it.
