what am i missing? Building B16A..
getting tired of the D16Z6 and shitty gearing, so i got myself a JDM 2nd gen B16a.
before it goes in i thought id build it up a little. heres are the things ive got for it so far.
can you guys help me out, take a look at it and see if i missing anything, or give me some suggestions on better parts.
92 B16A
AEM Cai
Stock tb bored to 4mm over (stock was 62)
AEBS manifold
Hondata manifold gaskit
Stage 2 port & polish by BlackTrax Racing
Mugen headgaskit (10.7:1)
Skunk2 stage 1 cams with AEM cam gears
Portflow inner springs, ITR outers with Portflow titanium retainers
JDM 4-1 header 2.5" collector
5zigen 4-2-1 header with 2.25" collector.. which one would be better for the b16?
Carsound 2.5" highflow cat
RSR 2.36" exhaust
ACT-HD-SS clutch with Fidanza flywheel
CTR N1 crank pulley
On the way..
Hondata S200, RC440 injectors, b&m fpr, and stock itr fuel pump.
am i missing anything? what do you guys think? can anyone recomend a good spark plug to go with?
should be all together within a month, will post dyno results.

yea yea.. make fun of the 1.6 if you want.. 1.6 is fine.
this motor is only temporary (6-8 months) then ill be throwing in a JDM K20-R.

honestly I would get a p72 head to bump up compression a little more and sell that mugen head gasket and buy a honda OEM one. Then get a skunk2 manifold or AEBS if it is even available. Check the classifieds for a CTR exhaust mani for less that $200. It has a 2.5" outlet and has excellent ground clearance.

Dude your stock tb was not 62 mm.....i may have miss understood reading it...i prob was....since four over would be 62......sorry for the waste of space and post...
nothing is wrong with 98 spec jdm 4-1 header...i have it and love it better top end...plus after it was tuned gained 8 hp
im not talking about the header...i'm talking about the jdm itr tranny you're getting. the gsr 4th that it has isn't very appealing to me as its only going to slow you down. but to each their own.

I wouldn't do that because it throws off the timing too much IMO.

i measured it with a digital caliper.. and yes it was 62mm stock.
Mugen head gasket has been bought already. i could mill the head if i want to get some more compression.

dont need to port the head on a b16, just get a good valve job from portflow and some rocket/omnipower valves and mill the head 2 thou while you have it off

A headgasket is reversable, a mill is not. I'd not mill the head since it's a temporary engine, and the value of the head would be more if it was unmilled.

you think portflow is the only ****** place in the united states that can do a damn valve job? give me a ****** break.
take that head to a machine shop, tell them you want reversion in the exhaust ports, back cut all valves, and a 5 angle valve job.

i was talking in compression only terms.
that is assuming you dont cut into the quench too much

IMO I would rather deal with a smaller combustion chamber like the p72 head and just get that head worked on and use a regular 3 layer gasket. One of the first motors I built was a b16 block/p72 head set up with CTR cams and it was a hell of a ripper with 92 octane(yeah it was that long ago). Too bad it got stolen before we had a chance to dyno it but it would give 1.8 GS-R hatchbacks a run for their money.
